Looking to avoid "duh" answers to this problem.

Windows vista is utilizing 100% cpu when mining with 3x 5770 cards on a core 2 duo cpu.

using -v -w128 -f60 as flags.

There are several different types of Bitcoin clients. The most secure are full nodes like Bitcoin Core, but full nodes are more resource-heavy, and they must do a lengthy initial syncing process. As a result, lightweight clients with somewhat less security are commonly used.

Underminer, Seriously, Stop using GUIminer
The bug you are experiancing is SDK realted, With CGminer, You can build a 'performance kernal' from your favorite old drivers then Compleatley remove all those drivers, Install your all time Favorite drivers And Voila, You can have old SDK's mining via cgminer, And New SDK's doing everything else without colliding At All.

Remove ALL instances of any SDK
AND, And this is the #1 most important step to removing old sdk's
Is to goto system32 and Delete "amdocl.dll" "OpenCL.dll"
Then, If you have 64bit, Go into SysWOW64 and delete the same files.
install a newer one, Done.

It is Mandatory to delete those 2(4) files, Otherwise your never actually removing OpenCL than came with the SDK

100% CPU is caused by the driver/SDK versions. Some versions are perfectly fine and experience no CPU bug. Other versions are plagued by the CPU bug perpetually, and should not be used. Still other versions seem fine, but still have the CPU bug at high Intensities. This last case can be quite sneaky and confusing for some.

For 5xxx cards, your best bet is to uninstall your current SDK, install the newest drivers (12.8 ) WITHOUT the included SDK, and then manually install 2.5.

Nobody can read, its official.
We can read. If you'd like to give us more information about your OS, drivers, and SDK, maybe we can help you a little more.

Thank you.  I have been looking into causes but not really found a conclusive answer.

For those who are curious, other people BESIDES ME use my systems. They are used as desktop machines, servers, and for ambient heating.  I can't have people barely computer literate entering cmd commands to enable and disable cards as their needs to change throughout the day.  Why do I have to explain shit like this in my own thread--I don't know.

Who said anything about CMD commands? LOL.
You wont have to, CGminer has a Dynamic Intensity.
Also it's well known that having crossfired cards can create the 100% cpu bug, I had it myself and updated to sdk 2.6 to fix it.
