It is possible to buy drugs with bitcoin but I have not done it and will not do it since I don't like drugs or the drugs market at all and I think that is one of the reasons the average person has not adopted bitcoin yet, because they see it as a currency with deep ties to those persons.

actually I do not really know about this, because I've never heard that a drug kingpin using bitcoin for their transactions?
is it you ever hear about this in the news?

Well drug kingpins don't really make their way into the news anyways, do they? If they are a successful drug kingpin then they would not be televised about at all because they have kept their anonymity so well.

And this is the reason why the dark net markets thrive. They provide an anonymous way to provide and accept goods and services, while building up a reputation for yourself at the same time.

The entire drug empire has been working just fine with fiat.  I wouldn't expect cartels to switch over to bitcoin, especially when the value fluctuates so greatly, but that's just my opinion.  Unless all parties involved are cool with making the switch, fiat would remain the method of payment.  At the end user level, I can see bitcoin transactions being beneficial, but cartels are several levels beyond that in the supply chain.

Anyone bought drugs with bitcoin and what are you thought on the subject ?

i know i have used bitcoin to buy psilocybe cubensis thank you bitcoin i cold have not done this without you now i can trip watching corry & eastenders in the evening its such a sight.

Know a guy that did... didn't work so well for him in the USA tho lol. Did however seem to roll over well in Europe related countries Smiley

You are seems to be high AF man. I didn't even attain or think to buy drugs with bitcoin I'm already contented to gamble and trade with my coins. And with these such things I don't know if I'm that really high or crazy because I don't want to make myself ruined with drugs even though bitcoin is already helping me with my life.
You have to bear the risk when using bitcoin to buy illegal drugs, don't think bitcoin cannot trace it. It is under their watchlist as bitcoin is widely use in the deep web for illegal activities.

We all know that buying drugs with bitcoin is not a good concept an idea. And I knew also that majority of the bitcoin enthusiast is not doing this things maybe few of them only. But as much as possible we shouldn't do this kind of a thing neither try it.
That's a humanity. They couldn't find any better way where to spend bitcoin, no they buy drugs with it. That is just awful. Bitcoin is life to me. Around a month ago I left my work and now I get payment from my campaign and that is not bad money that helps me to cover my necessary costs.
Using Bitcoin in illegal activities are great for the people that are bad. It is pseudo anymous and probably a way that they want. I hope a lot of people does use Bitcoin for LEGAL activities. How much did you get for it. I hope it supports you in you daily activities.

Do you consider people that use drugs to be "bad"? And people that don't use drugs are "good"? Who should tell you which drugs are fine and which aren't?  If you trust the government to tell you what to put in your body, when they are lobbied by pharmaceutical companies, then you can think that way, but shouldn't force that ignorance on others.

You should put whatever you want in your body as long as it brings no harm to me, and I should be able to do the same if I don't harm you.

There's nothing wrong with a currency being used for illegal transactions; that's its purpose.  Until bitcoin, all illegal activity was done with fiat currencies, and no one lost sleep over it, nor did they lose trust in the currency for that reason.

The main issue with this train of thought is that you as an adult won't purposefully swallow or inject anything detrimental to your body unless it is intended to fight with something even more detrimental. And no one should tell you what to do and what not to do as you yourself claim. But it is not so with kids who don't yet fully understand the consequences of their actions and don't bear responsibility either.

Here's where the government steps in.

Yeah this is like victim-blaming and in this case, the victim is bitcoin, and people when they hear things about bitcoin that accuse bitcoin of stimulating the growth of drugs dealing, tend to have negative view of bitcoin although buying drugs doesn't have anything to deal with bitcoin and it's all about how bitcoin users want to use their money. People really need to get rid of this thought and have a closer look into the reality.

They are abusing the anonymity of bitcoin because of this they can deal anonymously to buy drugs online..  or in dark market places.. that can affect the image of bitcoin.. yeah they should rid about bitcoin what is the real bitcoin and the reality that bitcoin has a good benefits that honestly the price right now is very expensive and we are getting the benefits of the price increase of bitcoin.. than i hope that buying illegal or drugs in dark market places can't affect the value of bitcoin..

I won't have the guts to use it either or else someone from FBI will just knock on my door and arrest me. I just have read some people who are keep on saying those things when transacting in deep web for buying illegal drugs or any illegal services. It is better to be always on the safe haven rather than make myself put into danger.
If you dont like to put up in jail then its better not to tend to go on darknet and do purchase or do illegal transaction but if you are expert enough to hide yourself away from them then you might surf but its your own decision on doing illegal things and for me i wont do such thing because im not that bad person.

It is indeed doing something illegal things much more fun and more challenging compared to doing something that is legal. Hence, many people are still many do illegal, because of reasons of pleasure and profit reasons also. But we should still remember that something illegal will definitely give negative impact, be it the impact for families or individuals. So it is better to avoid illegal things for the sake of keeping our lives remain awake over having to do things that are illegal but risking our lives

Now that the price of bitcoin continues the rally to cross the ATH of 1124 dollars had reached in November 2013 the media worldwide will remember its existence and start to talk about it. I am almost sure they would say that is a bubble. They will also say that it is used for all illegal activities, one of them is the buy/sale of drugs, and at the end media will close saying that the price will crash as happened in December 2013.

I don't think it is easy to buy drugs with bitcoins in country like Bangladesh where bitcoin is completely banned. but I know o foreign friend who did that twice. He was in a hospital and hadn't enough money to by drugs. so he used his bitcoin wallet and used his money to buy necessary drugs.

Yes agreed, that would be for adults and adults would be responsible for their kids.  For kids, at least for me, and I grew up in Canada - as I child I wasn't informed about drugs as a kid.  Instead, we were fear mongered that trying anything would turn you into a helpless heroin addict.  Everything was negative about it rather than being informative.  The problem with keeping drugs illegal is that it is much easier for kids to get a hold of, than something that is legal and regulated (like cigarettes or alcohol).

And for where the government steps in, they actually step in for all of society and prohibition of (some) drugs is for adults, regardless of the reason, and especially targeted to ethnic minorities (in North America).  Many highly addictive drugs remain legal because big pharma has lobbied for it (oxycontin for example) which doctors prescribe.  Then you can have a guy that didn't take care of his health, maybe smoked a pack of cigarettes a day with no physical activity that ends up with cancer, and is prescribed cannabis.  You can have another healthy guy that smokes cannabis and goes straight to jail without harming anyone.  I wouldn't agree with a law that would make these situations possible.

Most people are very misinformed about drugs unless you look to science, and very few people do - this thread would be a great example of that.

People are going to do drugs no matter what. Once you accept that fact, its easy to see that the best course of action is to legalize, tax and regulate the substances.
At least that way you can control the purity and dose to keep people from dying,
help to eliminate some of the criminal element by removing their illegal cash flow,
and generate income for the state/ country through taxation.

I believe that in 2016 the state of Colorado in the US made close to a Billion dollars in taxes from Cannabis sales.
That is a state with a population of 5.5 million people.
That money goes to roads, schools and other public projects to improve the state. Much better than going to illegal drug dealers and cartels!

I am happy that someone gets it. Bitcoin is a censorship resistant currency for moving value in the internet. What do the people here expect the Bitcoin users will use it for? So of course buying drugs online using Bitcoin is the best use for the currency.

Bitcoin for Dope? Not really far from reality and is gonna be better instead of goods for goodies. Example, here in the Ph, where poverty and drugs are 2 main problem, I've seen a user swap cp's , tablets and the best part, a filthy old electric-fan.

Normally it only happens in a big countries, people in the your country is not that so educated about bitcoins, like what you said the main problem is poverty and drugs this people are not yet using the technology to hide their illegal activities, they just physically buy drugs without the fear to get caught.

This is already possible for a very long time and I think its not good but we can also not do anything about it in a short term to be honest.
actually since bitcoin launched you can do anything you want to do, including buying drugs. without any hindrance from anyone because bitcoin anonymous and decentralized so I think it would be safe

Bitcoin is not anonymous (https://bitcoin.org/en/faq#is-bitcoin-anonymous) All transactions are public on the blockchain, so they can be traced. Even mixing services are of little value since there are companies devoted to tracing mixed Bitcoins.

Bitcoin is perfect for situations where traceability (and transparency somewhat) are desired, such as for business, dining out, swaps, etc.

See this page, especially the section about Bitcoin mixers, for more info about anonymity: https://moneroforcash.com/monero-vs-dash-vs-zcash-vs-bitcoinmixers.php
