I don't think it is easy to buy drugs with bitcoins in country like Bangladesh where bitcoin is completely banned. but I know o foreign friend who did that twice. He was in a hospital and hadn't enough money to by drugs. so he used his bitcoin wallet and used his money to buy necessary drugs.

Do you consider people that use drugs to be "bad"? And people that don't use drugs are "good"? Who should tell you which drugs are fine and which aren't?  If you trust the government to tell you what to put in your body, when they are lobbied by pharmaceutical companies, then you can think that way, but shouldn't force that ignorance on others.

You should put whatever you want in your body as long as it brings no harm to me, and I should be able to do the same if I don't harm you.

There's nothing wrong with a currency being used for illegal transactions; that's its purpose.  Until bitcoin, all illegal activity was done with fiat currencies, and no one lost sleep over it, nor did they lose trust in the currency for that reason.

The main issue with this train of thought is that you as an adult won't purposefully swallow or inject anything detrimental to your body unless it is intended to fight with something even more detrimental. And no one should tell you what to do and what not to do as you yourself claim. But it is not so with kids who don't yet fully understand the consequences of their actions and don't bear responsibility either.

Here's where the government steps in.

Yes agreed, that would be for adults and adults would be responsible for their kids.  For kids, at least for me, and I grew up in Canada - as I child I wasn't informed about drugs as a kid.  Instead, we were fear mongered that trying anything would turn you into a helpless heroin addict.  Everything was negative about it rather than being informative.  The problem with keeping drugs illegal is that it is much easier for kids to get a hold of, than something that is legal and regulated (like cigarettes or alcohol).

And for where the government steps in, they actually step in for all of society and prohibition of (some) drugs is for adults, regardless of the reason, and especially targeted to ethnic minorities (in North America).  Many highly addictive drugs remain legal because big pharma has lobbied for it (oxycontin for example) which doctors prescribe.  Then you can have a guy that didn't take care of his health, maybe smoked a pack of cigarettes a day with no physical activity that ends up with cancer, and is prescribed cannabis.  You can have another healthy guy that smokes cannabis and goes straight to jail without harming anyone.  I wouldn't agree with a law that would make these situations possible.

Most people are very misinformed about drugs unless you look to science, and very few people do - this thread would be a great example of that.

People are going to do drugs no matter what. Once you accept that fact, its easy to see that the best course of action is to legalize, tax and regulate the substances.
At least that way you can control the purity and dose to keep people from dying,
help to eliminate some of the criminal element by removing their illegal cash flow,
and generate income for the state/ country through taxation.

I believe that in 2016 the state of Colorado in the US made close to a Billion dollars in taxes from Cannabis sales.
That is a state with a population of 5.5 million people.
That money goes to roads, schools and other public projects to improve the state. Much better than going to illegal drug dealers and cartels!

Yeah this is like victim-blaming and in this case, the victim is bitcoin, and people when they hear things about bitcoin that accuse bitcoin of stimulating the growth of drugs dealing, tend to have negative view of bitcoin although buying drugs doesn't have anything to deal with bitcoin and it's all about how bitcoin users want to use their money. People really need to get rid of this thought and have a closer look into the reality.

I am happy that someone gets it. Bitcoin is a censorship resistant currency for moving value in the internet. What do the people here expect the Bitcoin users will use it for? So of course buying drugs online using Bitcoin is the best use for the currency.

Normally it only happens in a big countries, people in the your country is not that so educated about bitcoins, like what you said the main problem is poverty and drugs this people are not yet using the technology to hide their illegal activities, they just physically buy drugs without the fear to get caught.

Bitcoin is not anonymous (https://bitcoin.org/en/faq#is-bitcoin-anonymous) All transactions are public on the blockchain, so they can be traced. Even mixing services are of little value since there are companies devoted to tracing mixed Bitcoins.

Bitcoin is perfect for situations where traceability (and transparency somewhat) are desired, such as for business, dining out, swaps, etc.

yes that is a fact that it can be happen only in such countries where people even the smuggler also have good education, they at least may know about  computer education and computer skills

That's right, In fact, since bitcoin is decentralized, meaning we cannot trace who or whose the bitcoin holder. So there is a big possibility that bitcoin can be use in any drug transactions. But of course in the bitcoin community we should not do it, due to it is so illegal.

Good question. Maybe it is to minimize the risk or there will be a middleman. If it is just the drugs that they will be dealing then it is like not muh of a problem. Plus the buyer wont be known.

People had a lot of problems with that. The FBI pretended to be the customer and when they met up the seller was arrested. Buying drugs online is worse than buying in person, in my opinion. If you want to do it, you have to assume the risks anyways.

Yes of course, it can impact for seller also. When freedom is available, people will use it. I'm sure the purchase illegal items other than drugs such as weapons, even human trafficking has already been done with bitcoin. I am concerned, if this is the more common makes ever more massive bitcoin prohibition.
