I do not think that the government will ban bitcoin because of those illicit trades. Paper money can do the same and yet they do not ban it. It is just because whatever ways, illegal trades can be done by people who wants to earn money in illegal ways. They will always find a way to earn because they are business minded persons. Well you have a point with it, but still many people are using bitcoin with good purpose. |

We in general use word ‘Drugs’ in a negative way. If your question is about this, then NO, neither with Bitcoin nor with any other valuable.
Otherwise, we can buy almost anything we can imagine on the deep web only through specialised software. Just for the sake of information to many, the Bitcoin is the default currency for purchase on dark net/ deep web.

i know i have used bitcoin to buy psilocybe cubensis thank you bitcoin i cold have not done this without you now i can trip watching corry & eastenders in the evening its such a sight.
I think this is not possible for now. Although, we can buy other things using bitcoin right? So why not drugs as well. If it works like a credit card, I think the same concept applies in bitcoin. |

I never use bitcoins to buy drugs onlien and I will never try them, such as buying illegal drugs or doing illegal things using bitcoin, most drug users often use the cause of bitcoin from an anomin transaction.

I think because of these things, people got the wrong idea of what bitcoin is really for. I think it is bad even if it is not bitcoin to buy drugs that are illegal which was set by the laws. Well, if it will help you and someone else, I don't think its a bad thing to do but if its only for self pleasure, I don't think its right to use bitcoin in that way. ( Well we are all human so I don't have the right to criticize people for what they want. ) If you didn't commit any crime or whatsoever, well great. But because of trades like this, bitcoin's reputation are kind of getting bad, and maybe the reason why countries are banning BTC.

I agree with you. Many people just want to utilize bitcoin to get their dirty work done in an anonymous manner. This undermines the true value of bitcoin and makes people fear the crypto world. I am happy that bitcoin is being presented in a more positive way these days. |

It is not good for you buying drugs. But if I used drugs, I would buy with bitcoin too even though it is much easier and secure to buy it on the street. If you buy drugs with bitcoin on internet, you may see some security problems on big amount payments. You may be followed by DEA  |

I think this serves as a massive hurdle toward widespread adoption. More often than not, when I talk to people about bitcoin, they almost automatically respond with something like, "oh..you mean what they use on the dark web to hire hit men or buy drugs?" I'm hoping this reputation really fades and wonder what things can be done to help people learn that there are other uses for bitcoin. |

People do have different mind which means we do have different decisions on using things like on bitcoin.We would definitely say that we will not use bitcoin on bad stuff but there are people who would really do such thing specially to those who have criminal minds.Buying drugs with bitcoin did really exist long time before even it was just starting up knowing that this is a usual stuff on dark or deep web. |

I've never tried to purchase drugs, both legal nor illegal, with bitcoins. I do now a few friends, who told me stories doing so, and they said not much sellers really want Bitcoin when dealing, anyway.

Nobody could really deny stuff like that actually happens. Maybe not today that much, if I got that picture right... is Mr. Sessions falling back to DDOS practises? When they gave that testimony about the dark web I wounder if they are more stricken up in drawing lines between dark, deep, clear webs, and everclear in their jar.  |

Agreed with you, criminals will always find the alternative ways to complete their illegal transactions so banning the bitcoins will not cure the real problem. Government should make more efforts to catch the origin of the illegal products and proper action should be taken to destroy the source. |

If the word “Drug” used here is referring to drug dealers then yes it is true and possible.
Things like these happens with all popular currencies or economic tools.
Whenever price of a currency rises good and bad elements starts getting attracted towards it.
As bitcoins has become so valuable, drug dealers get attracted towards it, its a decentralised currency and can get transferred to any part of the world with no barriers of governments or any mediator.
This function of bitcoin making it more and more popular in drug world.
If any one is using fake id and account its quiet difficult to trace him.
How and where to use any currency is not in hands of that currency maker, the owner of the currency decides it.

This thread is funny to see as my first interaction with bitcoin was to order some pot over the internet and have it delivered to my door. Long story short a service I had been using at the time stopped taking EMT but had this new bitcoin option, not knowing what it was I had bought .34 BTC in about an hour and made my purchase, 2014 or 2015, not sure. Lucky it was a company I had dealt with before as I could have easily lost out because I didn't do the right amount of research that's for sure.

There are posibilities that drugs would also takes place using bitcoin currency, Because the fact that using bitcoin keeps user remains anonymous in transacting btc and its hard also to trace because the data stored are highly encrypted. But of all transactions and vices i never put my self to danger. and im not a drug user.
