Millions of refugees storming European borders have definitely come as a surprise to Western politicians. They would not have, if the West only listened to what Libya's leader Muammar Gaddafi said months before he was brutally executed.

There are millions of blacks who could come to the Mediterranean to cross to France and Italy, and Libya plays a role in security in the Mediterranean.

Libya may become the Somalia of North Africa, of the Mediterranean. You will see the pirates in Sicily, in Crete, in Lampedusa. You will see millions of illegal immigrants. The terror will be next door.

He was payed and supportdd by the eu to control/hold the refugees in libya that wanted to cross the mediterran sea from there.
It is one of the hotspots, but then the arab spring came.

Egypt - NATO helped to topple the secular Hosni Mubarak, and replaced him with Mohammed Morsi of the Islamic Brotherhood
Libya - NATO toppled the secular Gaddhafi, and replaced him with hardcore Islamists
Tunisia - NATO toppled the secular Zine El Abidine Ben Ali, and replaced him with a government from the hardline Ennahda Movement.
Iraq - NATO toppled the secular Saddam Hussein. Now ISIS controls most of the territory.

Gaddafi was a smart dude but he was also a bit mad about certain aspects of life. Think thats one of the tell tale failings with intelligence is you are usually mad once you achieve a set level of IQ.
