I'm about to do a fresh install of Windows.

Just to be perfectly clear, the ONLY files I need a backup copy of are my wallet.dat in my bitcoin folder, and my wallet.dat in my litecoin folder.

Then to restore in the fresh windows, I'll just reinstall the wallets, and copy the wallet.dat's into their respective folders.

I know this is right, I just have to ask as I would not be too thrilled if I lost my coins.

Charlie Kelly: I'm pleading the 5th.  The Attorney: I would advise you do that.  Charlie Kelly: I'll take that advice under cooperation, alright? Now, let's say you and I go toe-to-toe on bird law and see who comes out the victor?  The Attorney: You know, I don't think I'm going to do anything close to that and I can clearly see you know nothing about the law.

Yes, those are the only files you NEED to back up, if all you're worried about is not losing your coins. But backing up the blk*.dat files would be a good idea too, as it will save you from having to download the whole blockchains again (be sure to enable "Detach databases at shutdown" if you're using Bitcoin 0.6.2 or later).

Will pretend to do unspeakable things (while actually eating a taco) for bitcoins: 1K6d1EviQKX3SVKjPYmJGyWBb1avbmCFM4
