Instead of whitelisting directly you can always vouch for a newbe and ask a moderator to whitelist him.

Bad idea. Why having a lot of messages should grant people moderator powers?

I don't even like the orange-ignore-thing if a lot of "people with a lot of messages" put someone in ignore
