With a GTX 970 you have a 50% chance to finding such an address after ~1,185,000 years

Code:
D:\Code\Bitcoin\vanitygen-0.22-win>oclvanitygen.exe -v -i 1sirohigexxxxx
Prefix difficulty: 1915699267367880434540 1sirohigexxxxx
Difficulty: 1915699267367880434540
Device: GeForce GTX 970
-snip-
[35.58 Mkey/s][total 1117782016][Prob 0.0%][50% in 1.183526e+006y]

1sirohige is much more likely (50% chance after ~21days):

Code:
D:\Code\Bitcoin\vanitygen-0.22-win>oclvanitygen.exe -v -i 1sirohige
Prefix difficulty:       93397949932881 1sirohige
Difficulty: 93397949932881
Device: GeForce GTX 970
-snip-
[34.93 Mkey/s][total 1158676480][Prob 0.0%][50% in 21.4d]

1siroh took 2 minutes:

Code:
D:\Code\Bitcoin\vanitygen-0.22-win>oclvanitygen.exe -v -i 1siroh
Prefix difficulty:           1914755626 1siroh
Difficulty: 1914755626
Device: GeForce GTX 970
-snip-
Pattern: 1siroh
Pubkey (hex): -pubkey-
Privkey (hex): -private-
Privkey (ASN1): -private-
Address: 1SirohS1ALAyEWK4wNaXEPxRqjKhr51Eb
Privkey: 5-private-
Halting...done!
Does it mean the shorter a address, easier to generate it?Will it be less secure?

The Bitcoin network protocol was designed to be extremely flexible. It can be used to create timed transactions, escrow transactions, multi-signature transactions, etc. The current features of the client only hint at what will be possible in the future.

i was also trying to generate a unique bitcoin address. but after nearly 6 days of non-stop letting my pc run, i stopped it. it's just not worth the time.

The longer the pattern the longer the time it will take to search - if you're lucky... it might take only 2 seconds. Anyway, I would suggest you to buy a a VPS from Time4VPS and run vanitygen on them. My computer was running at 350 MKeys per seconds and the VPS I used was running at 500 MKeys per seconds. It took me around 4 hours to generate the address 1JTKingdNGmCfbP8HCbhenoxRQuy8tqZvs (without -i option).

So sad! This profile does not appear as the #1 result (on anonymous) Google searches anymore.

Time to be active on the crypto forums again? Proud to be one of the few Legendary members of the Sparkie Red Dot!

Gonna put this on my resume if I ever join a cryptocurrency/blockchain industry!

it purely depends on your pc specs and the longer the custom addy you are creating, if you are only using normal CPU it would take weeks to generate 7characters vanity addy

Yes, shorter addresses are easier to find, but the security is the same. It would be easier for someone else to create an address that also starts with 1siroh, but the rest would not be the same thus its a different address with the same beginning.

What hardware do you use for 350Mkey/s? Are you sure its million keys per second? because at 37M(!)keys/s it took me a few minutes to get 1JTKingnFGyKqoFvztGVngqpw2qndA6qW5.

My i5 does ~700Kkeys/s and would take ~4.1h for 50% chance, so I guess you used a CPU as well.

Im not really here, its just your imagination.

It will take very much time to generate that address... Coz that. Are very low specifications.. You need a good graphic card with high no.. Of cores... Like nvidias powerful graphic card.... Check whether you have that or not

Awwwe... my mistake, it was ~350 Kkeys per second on my computer using CPU and ~500 Kkeys per second on the VPS I purchased.  Tongue.

What is the use of unique bitcoin address. Will it make you rich.
If you by accident get a different address then use it. If you go for a online service, then that might risk you bitcoins.
It's more of for identification and trend than anything else. There is a high probability that only the first few letter are predetermined. I believe a service called first bits allow the user to know the entire address by keying in the first few letters. I don't get your part about getting a different address.

It's like getting a fancy number for your mobile phone or car... I do not find it's worth. Because address are anonymous already.

There is always the option of using the vanity pool, although it wont be free, ill post it here anyway so that others can take a look.
