Hello all...

I just saw this on my screen and wondered how is it possible:

partially filled at 524.99994% (0.0000000049)

How on earth does anyone need to borrow $0.0000000049?

J.

How on earth does anyone need to borrow $0.0000000049?

It might be that your offer was used to supply the tiny remainder of some new trade position, which was mostly filled by using other lending offers? The engine combines available offers to allow a trader to open a specific position size.

Well -- intuitively I'd say, an amount of $0.0000000049 looks very much like a carry-over from some numerical imprecision accumulated in a previous calculation. (Such can typically happen when you subtract two numbers which are very close)

I'm ok with it, I guess.  I just hope they keep it until it is a full $1.00.  Smiley

why is a variable intrest rate better for the trader, as they claim?
If I can borrow at 100%, why is it better to borrow at 100-200% (for example)?

and why are there people lending $5 or even 23 cents?

We have seen variable rates hold over 400% and even spike higher then that.  When I borrow I will pay a little bit more to avoid this risk.

Lot's of times it is the remainder of partially filled loans still sitting waiting to be filled.

Hello I'm curious about something...

And I'm also encoruaged to hear of the growth of Bitfinex by addiing the additional trading platforms, I'm curious to know if and or how that is a benefit to lenders as well?

Will these additional platforms assist in the case of forced liquidations or so called black swans?

Any thoughts on these improvements from the lender side would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks...

Regarding the rounding issues:
Rounding in the UI usually makes sense, so keep it there. But you could just add a tooltip to any rounded number containing the full-precision amount. This is the way I do it on my site and so far no one complained Smiley

... or use floor instead of round!
I don't care if I actually have 0.00x USD more but it's annoying to get an error when typing in a balance that is displayed as available for lending.

Feature request: Multiples of VIR. Since there is often more supply than demand at VIR, it would be nice if you could offer at say 0.8 times VIR.

VIR plus or minus a percentage would make sense, like banks do with "prime rate".

With the volatility of VIR, that could lead to negative rates...

Any chance to introduce a "Fill or Kill" order type? Would be much appreciated. I am losing quite a bit today due to the UI irresponsiveness and volatility.  Sad
