Each block is stacked on top of the previous one. Adding another block to the top makes all lower blocks more difficult to remove: there is more "weight" above each block. A transaction in a block 6 blocks deep (6 confirmations) will be very difficult to remove.

The cryptocurrency I am currently using beside  bitcoin is ''litecoin'' because it is easy to earn rather than bitcoin and also currently the value of 1 litecoin is 0.01 btc.
So if someone earns nearly about 74 litecoins he/she can have about 1.1 btc  something.

I'm holding on to a few Litecoin, because I bought some at about its halving (when the reward for solving a block was cut in half, sometime this past August) when it was at $5. So, I'm waiting for Litecoin to reach about $5 in worth or BTC0.023 bitcoin to convert it back to bitcoin. I've been considering investment in other Altcoins, but I don't really have the space in my laptop for full nodes at the moment. I don't trust any online wallets for altcoins since one stole 2 of my LTC. So, for now, I'm only holding some Litecoin.

I'm using these cryptocurrncies
1. LTC,
2. DOGE,
3. BCN after bitcoin.
I'm using BCN because, it was minted with my PC. DOGE is for faster confirmation time. And no reason for LTC.

I use litecoin, dogecoin and rarely sometimes monero. Dogecoins- they have really fast transactions , litecoin- they just seem to be the closest to 1 USD and monero - for gambling but as I said before, I use it rarely.

I like what are NXT guys doing! They are hard working, delivering, and they didn't have 18 millions of investment, but they do have a working wallet! Smiley

It is also a POS, not POW like Bitcoin so it will be interesting to see what will this lead to. NXT is also a platform, you can do so many more things with it except sending coins.

I don't think other cryptocurrencies rivals bitcoin at the moment. The one that I ever get closest to which I think has the potential is perhaps doge. Not because it has anything special in terms of the coding but because of the support from its strong community base which makes all the differences. Plus it is easier to move the coins around due to its wider acceptance at major altcoin exchangers.

I haven't used any cryptocurrency apart from bitcoins yet, as I don't think that other crypto's would be as good as bitcoins. And bitcoins is taking care of everything that I need so I don't feel to switch to any other crypto currency at present.

Aside from Bitcoin, I mainly use 2 alt coins (among my huge collection) which are Litecoin and Dogecoin. The reason I use these is because they're the oldest (if I'm not wrong) and trusted alt coins out there. There have been many scamcoins around with greedy developers earning money from ICO and then running away (coin abandoned) That's why I've sticked to the mentioned coins and they're very likely to survive in the next few years, as to seeing other alts becoming dead.  Cheesy

There's no real opponent in cryptocurrencies to bitcoin. But i don't mind trading them on and off until they die out, since you can make a nice buck out of it,
then just simply convert everything back to bitcoin, and hodl.

Nope, indeed. We can be looking at some coin that would survive because of certain services. Maybe like truly anonymous transactions or such. But potentially only when sidechain start kicking in.

If sidechain start appearing and solve the "issues of Bitcoin" then this allow Bitcoin to evolve and effectively become closer to the perfect digital era currency.

Litecoin. Is fast to transfer, and there are exchanges in which you can use it better (i.e they have a minimum for Bitcoin trading, but the minimum is much lower for trading litecoin).

I also like dogecoin for about the same reasons. In fact I would prefer one of those two (a lower value coin) to be able to send even lesser value transfers. It is less risky to play with smaller fractions in exchanges.

I haven't used another cryptocurrency yet. That may sound surprising considering I've been using BTC for more than 30 months, but when I look at the market caps of all cryptos ( http://coinmarketcap.com/all/views/all/ ) BTC is just so much bigger than all the others, that I see no reason to look elsewhere. Still, I would appreciate a fully anonymous crypto.

I used to be a citizen and a taxpayer. Those days are long gone.

Dogecoin best suits for transactions where all other major crypt-currencies are being used as investment shares. I use dogecoin for sending funds. Because it has very less fees compared to bitcoin. So I'm saving some coins by using dogecoin for sending money to other.

Yeah i love it to, dogecoin have a low transaction fees moreover if you want to send your bitcoin from one exchanger to other exchanger, just convert your bitcoin to dogecoin and send them to the other exchanger you want, it only takes 1-2 dogecoin it that means your transaction fees less than 180 satoshi

I'm mostly use monero. I'm rather not "an open book", so I dont like my transactions being public in bitcoin or litecoin blockchains.

Take this current massive data hack: http://www.theguardian.com/business/2015/oct/01/experian-hack-t-mobile-credit-checks-personal-information

And just imagine what would happen if along with "names, addresses, and social security, driver’s license and passport number"  that company had bitcoin address of its clients. Then what? All past transactions and their balances would be public for everyone to see, because, bitcion blockchain is public. I dont like such a possibility.

Mostly why i use DOGE is because of their very little fee (most of the time 1 DOGE)
1 DOGE is around 0.0001 USD, basically 100 doge is only 1 cents.
The transaction confirmation takes much faster than a bitcoin transcation.

Which cryptocurrency are you using except Bitcoin?why?
I use the below three coins except bitcoin
1.Menoro (XMR)
2.DASH
3 .Etherium(Eth)

And my personal favourite is DASH because i find the potential in this coin..I believe the price of this coin will soon going to reach 0.01 bitcoin..It's price is low now but this coin is showing the potential..if it just becomes little more popular,it's price will sky rocket for sure Grin

I use Menoro too because i heard it's easy to mine with CPU..I have not mined it yet but will soon start mining it..Currently i own few XMR that i bought with Bitcoins Smiley

I like to use Doge a lot for the same reasons others mentioned already, namely:

- Very low transaction fees (awesome)
- Very fast transfer/confirmation times (even more awesome)
- Still as fun to use as in its early days
- Big community of users and holders
- Actual retailers that accept the coin directly as payment
- and Doge is great as a trading pair with other low value alt coins because of it's low value per coin which allows for accuracy on exchanges.

I also like to use TEK, CAP and SPRTS for their POS (Proof of Stake) ability. No need for hardware miners or wasting of resources, just hold an amount in your wallet and reap interest over time.

And last but not least I just started to use XCR (Crypti) which offers a decentralized applications platform with and all-round solution for Node.js and JavaScript developers to deploy their own decentralized applications (DAPPS). XCR is certainly not the first one to offer a DAPPS platform of course (think ETH) but IMHO it is the most promising.

Yeah I totally agree with you on this aspect... Monero does possess a very good anonymity feature that no other coin can really boast.  I have already hedged a decent portion of my funds into Monero now, since the recent price drop from some whale that dumped tons of XMR for whatever reason.

As for the confirmation times, I just read and researched a bit about this new coin coming out... eMunie.  Seems to be stupid fast with the confirmation times, and has a really good chance of being a major contender way later on down the road.  It still has yet to be released, but during the beta test, it seemed to get a lot of good reviews.

I don't really see an upside on an altcoin that confirm super fast. To be safe you'd need to wait a few hours for many confirmations anyways. Forks on altcoins happen all the time.

Meanwhile a single confirmation on Bitcoin is relatively strong and waiting for 3 isin't much longer.
If you do very small transaction, for something like a coffee, then you don,t even need confirmation for the merchant, since a double spending attack on such a small amount would be self damaging more than anything.

Just take it easy, there might be room for more than one crypto, but they will need to bring something completely apart from what Bitcoin can bring. Beside true anonymity that can be solved in side chains, i really don't see anything.

Coinmarketcap doesn't mean shit really, banxshares with no community and pretty much a scam is listed even higher than doge. those who look at coinmarketcap to decide a coins success rate are plain dumb. doge had its fame but it pretty much done, only left with a bunch of dog lovers, its just litecoin with a different name and logo slapped on top.

Its "cool" but not very profitable. I bought a 4tb HDD for gaming and i checked the profitability, is very bleh. It really does not compare to just buying proper hardware. I'm guessing the coin isint too used since its been around for quite a while and its almost unheard of.

Yeah I don´t realy do it for the profitability... I just want to see where this coin will go because of its concept... also my PC is on 24/7 anyways so it doesnt realy matter if my external HDD jumps on from time to time then goes back to sleep... Wink

If you're leaving your PC on 24/7, then that would be a possibility to earn more Burst. A 3.5 external HDD would be more reliable and faster than a 2.5 laptop HDD. Still, if you're curious about knowing how much Burst you would mine, I suggest you visit this page: http://burstcoin.biz/calculator   Have fun!  Wink

2$ per month for my 300$ HDD. Not a very good investment. Also i didn't check what the proof of capacity actually do, but if it put any use on the HDD, its really not worth the 24$ at current rate over one year.

I have been using for a few weeks trading bitcoins to ethereum.
Especially in poloniex as the volume was enormous.
The volume was over 1 thousand bitcoin, and the trades were really dynamically.

Did you manage to margin trade or something? I haven't had much luck with Eth. I mine it so i'm okay and the profitability is still good but for flipping it, the scene was not very good for me. Maybe someone more experienced could do better, but with the price crashing at the moment, i just feel like dumping what i mine instead of holding like i did for a while.

No i don't use margin trading as i don't understand the fundamentals on how does it work.
I have tried many chances to understand but also people in the trollbox didn't recommended me.

Hah i see. Well i can tell you, its pretty simple, you need volume and spread, a significant difference in buy and sell price. You need a stable-ish value and you basically just buy and sell at the same time, within the margin between buy and sell. That way you might buy a 0.001 and sell at 0.0012 at the same time, getting you 20% profit minus trading fees.

Thats the concept anyways i don't have a recommendation on a coin or a indepth suggestion. I'd guess if you google it you could find someone nice.

Well i don't think that if i use this method for growing my bitcoins work.
There isn't always a profit as you said buy a 0.001 and sell at 0.0012 at the same time.
People who suggested me and also didn't tell me how these things work they say that it is good for me.
So it's better to continue the old traditional trading strategy and not these margin trading.

Per Game Win: $0.001 USD, how long does it take to earn 1$ ?
Another cryptocurrency beside bitcoin is DTT(recently) and doge(for a long time now)

Yes it does take away space on your HDD... but since I never use my full 2TB external I just put 1.5TB aside for the proof of capacity and have 500 gigs left for whatever I need to save on the drive as a backup...

To me it´s like: "It doesnt cost computing power and I have a big HDDrive anyways so why not" kinda thing...

I use stellar (STR), this coin will be called soon as "lumen" because i joined in their giveaway last year.
And i can purchase some services that i can buy with bitcoins too.
Another cryptocurrency that i use is dogecoin (DOGE), mostly just for trading back and forth to bitcoin and get a little profit.

I use litecoin, dogecoin and rarely sometimes monero. Dogecoins- they have really fast transactions , litecoin- they just seem to be the closest to 1 USD and monero - for gambling but as I said before, I use it rarely.
Yeh I agree wit that.  Dogecoin is suppa-fast, an' I thank litecoin is as well.  I jist got offa thread, and this is wat I said: dogecoin is good fo' gamblin', and that's'a what I do wit it.  Y'all don't hafta deal with them fractions of whole coins neither.  That's a good thang in my eyes tho I know some users here don't agree.  Bitcoin is for aholdin', dogecoin is for agamblin'.

Lisk, ICN, Waves. The reason I use them and am involved in them is because they have great potential.

I recommend Etherium, gulden, Monero and litecoin. We must consider the market cap, if the market cap big of course we calm because the price chart is natural not from speculation.

I have received some doges, lites, steems and ethereum, but to be honest I have never used those coins. All my alternate economy is 100% based on the bitcoin and I have never had the need of using any other altcoin, besides I am not interested in managing a wide portfolio of altcoins because I am not a trader.
