Here's a variation on critical60's, which I've made to have the kind of single stroke that I had in mind.

http://imgur.com/fLjkPIt

It's a bit badly done, but it gives you the general outline.

It works in that I can see both the a and the e while using symmetry.  I don't know how much of that is because I know ahead of time what I should be seeing or how much seeing it right off matters.  I like the symmetry.  I don't have any thoughts about improving it.

Well, being a fan of the non-symmetrical version, I could still get behind this particular symmetry.  It seems to preserve the shape of the "e" without degenerating into a squiggle.  Good job, MoneroMoo.

I like the "symmetric" one--it has the infinity sign diagonally embedded within it. Maybe that could be the currency symbol?

That's what I liked about the concept of it. Infinity sign + "8" + yin and yang + ae + abstract design (see earlier high-value logo examples; many have abstract designs). But I think this particular version isn't "quite there". Something about the proportions, etc. Maybe an artist with a good eye for logos could tweak it a bit and make it better.

Sorry, but the unsymmetrical one doesn't make sense no matter how many lines of text you write to justify it. I agree that the 8-infinity could like more like a regular 8, without being squished too much.

Anyways, black on light gold experiment. "Hooked on infinity"

The lines are not perfect because of lack of Photoshop skills, but the "hook or inverse S" in the second image could be just be a snipped 8 figure, like below. Even the chroma-gold background is better here imo.

BF, I really like the alternate color scheme, but your proportions don't work.  In particular that second logo is far too tall vs. wide.

Here's hoping critical will give us a black/silver/gold version of the symmetrical design at some point.

Also, despite my affection for the unsymmetrical version, if enough people like the symmetrical one (as it is appearing they do) I'm sure it can happen.

Proportions don't work because I'm not well versed in Photoshop. I changed the logo (that was posted before) to my knowledge. I did it purely to give an idea how the ends could be cut.

If you really wanted to make proportional (height and length) version of that all you need is to have an 8 that lays 45 degrees and then add another 8, that is (almost) cut in half. That's what I was going for. It's almost like a four leaf clover and super easy to make for someone skilled.

I just wanted to see and show how the "snipped version" worked against the "yin yang" version, because those loose ends bothered me a bit.

I dig it, BF. Good work.

Here's a high res image of the symmetrical yin/yang logo. Feel free to give me more input. I'll play around with other color schemes soon.

Yes, I have to agree with the previous poster.

I can get behind the symmetry, but it doesn't look good if we do pseudo 4-way symmetry (with the letters stretched vertically).  You can see in the original mock-up that it was still squished slightly in the vertical dimension and this preserves the letter look.  When we stretch it out to the dimensions above it looks like squiggles and gift-wrap: not letters of a logo.

As far as the tapering, I feel it's necessary to preserve the yin-yang aspect and prevent the logo from degenerating into a typical logo.

I can see your point but I'm not totally sold that the untapered yin yang is really the better one. Maybe it could be more perfect it there's an even better curvature on the ends. Not sure. Don't get me wrong, it's not bad, but to me it's very debatable which one is better, the tapered or the untapered one.

Yin yang is pushing the limits and I don't know why a more conservative approach is worse.

All we know is we got to retain the ae, lose the gift bow tie association, maybe have a noticable 8, and the tapering is in question.

Do you want a prestigious logo or do you want an artistic mishmash of (too) many concepts?

Sorry for asking a dumb question, but what's the deal with the yin-yang component anyway? I get the infinity thing, and the 8 thing, but yin-yang??

Are we trying to employ concepts that relate to Aeon's technology, or are we just pulling down our pants and crying "Wooohoo! Look China - over here!"

It's a kind of blindness that reason alone cannot cure.

Good question about yin-yang. I don't know the symbolic significance to AOEN really. To me it seemed more like a cool reference to the natural balance of complementary forces than pandering to China.

Now that I'm writing about it though, there is a sort of yin-yang relationship between mining and currency in satoshi's proof-of-work design, which AEON includes.

Tbh I like it, but there are nuances that can be different. What do the others think?

Can you also make one that where the

1. ae is a square instead of a rectangle
2. is not angled
3. the hook is just a cut flipped 8 (of the other whole 8 )
4. with silver/chrome background
5. it's slightly bigger inside of the circle

Basically what I hand-drew in the previous page.

Sure. I can try that a little later when I get some more free time.
Let's see what others have to say and I'll gladly make some changes.
