Aeon is an awesome coin. Why has it spent the last year under 100k sats? A kind of funny quote "If you're just buying Aeon to get rich, don't even bother. Aeon needs more than just the next wave of crypto speculators: we're looking for the truly elite."

It is mined with cpu easily, that's why it has so many dumps, profit taking from the miners. It needs a new floor above 50k before it starts to rise more. The dev needs to be more active. It needs to get on a real market place.

I want to know what Aeon holders think. Several hours ago we have seen another big pump to 48k satoshis. This has been only 1 of 3 pumps in under a month. Some say that maybe someone knows something, but if they really did why crash the price back down again leaving new bagholders stuck with their coins?

There is not enough liquidity on Bittrex. You need patience to buy few BTC of Aeon and not push price up. That is sole reason fro this. Is simple. Some people are just non patient and just maketbuy and dont care since will hold coins for years.

What would happen if they are disappointed in smooth and the project? Will they become impatient again and dump everything down to under 10k satoshis?

Doubt any newbies buy AEON. AEON mainly buy those that heard of Monero. It is highly advertised on r/XMRTrader with 3500 subs. Monero holders are usually not traders. So will not use bots or buy patiently. How good or bad it is I dont know. More people own one coin better it is. Worse is that there are few people with million coins and that is it.

Smooth's ambition for Aeon is set very high, but if he does make full nodes run on mobile devices it will be a big breakthrough.

I dont think plans are high. It is always easier to copy something then do it from start. AEON cant have same development system as Monero have. It would be sort of waste of resources. First AEON needs to incorporate things Monero already have. As I remember from posts on reddit smooth advised people that wanted develop things on AEON to rather try do them on Monero first since Monero is more ready for them ( i dont remember exactly what that was).  Here is to remember what was planed for AEON almost a year ago. We also need to understand that doing this was probably not main focus last month when AEON had more important issues.

The main focus of the roadmap going forward is to rebase against the current Monero. Monero has had many improvements LMDB storage of the blockchain, added features including view-only wallets, message signing, and many others. Monero adds the ability to prove payments using tx keys, which is necessary to trade on decentralized exchanges such as bitsquare.io.

The other major area of work in Monero is the upcoming GUI wallet, which is a brand new design. While AEON already has a GUI wallet using the old Neozaru open source, that upstream code is no longer maintained. Instead the Monero GUI will be ported to AEON.

Of great importance, Monero is in the process of adding RingCT, which hides the amounts of payments and improves overall privacy and fungibility significantly, with little to no additional transaction size (since RingCT replaces denominations). Some of the items from the existing AEON roadmap, such as the ability to do signature trimming and faster syncing of non-fully-validating nodes, are being incorporated in Monero's RingCT implementation, so those will be brought here as well. Finally, there are a number of other improvements such as better support for full-transparency (including spending) on view key wallets and proof-of-reserves. AEON will gain all of these features for free while it migrates to a newer, better maintained code base.

Yes LMDB should be and is priority. Right now blockchain is not that big but is getting bigger daily and if we want RingCT is a must to do is to blockhain will not get loaded in RAM anymore.   We need to understand that is a big project Monero needed more then a year to solve that in beginning of 2016.  But we all see what happened with Monero price soon after that was done.

Does anyone know when Bittrex is going to enable aeon wallet again? I don't understand what is the reason for someone to buy the coin if you can't trade it currently.

aeon trading is going on at bittrex, just the wallet is on maintenance.

There should be. I speculate that if deposits and withdrawals come back in Bittrex we will see a lot of casual holders start dumping their Aeon bringing the price down back under 20k satoshis.

Some miners might also be waiting to dump their coins.

It's nice to see that Aeon has remained stable after every other altcoin crashed from their highs. I hope smooth rolls out the code rebase soon with LMDB implemented. I would love to run nodes on my old laptops.

How heavy? You cannot even buy a bitcoin worth of Aeon without bringing up the price to 30k satoshis. That is 2 times the price it is now. The same in  Bittrex. A whale trade to buy as much as he can but he had no choice but to move the price up to 50k satoshis.

Hello Aeoners. Is HitBTC very slow right now or is it only me? I have been trying to open the exchange but it freezes and it is very unusable. Are the having a big inflow of new people trading over there like it did with Poloniex 3 months ago?
