Aeon is still the lightest CN coin out there. Absolutely nothing compares to its sync time and operational time that I have found.

Please explain how Aeon is not "lightweight"? K12 will be a godsend for increasing the speed of everything mining wise. Cryptonight is so heavy in comparison.

K12 (ASIC-friendly lightweight keccak-based SHA3 variant) is already coded, there are already patches for pool code, some standalone miners, and even bitstreams for FPGAs (including cheap ones that are very accessible to willing smaller miners). I'd be surprised if it doesn't go live before the end of the year but there is no firm date yet. But I also don't think there will be ASICs for AEON right away in practice because the market cap and mining revenue is just too low.

I am gathering a list of Pool ops that will continue to support aeon post k12 fork. SO far I have accounted for 4 public pools.

It looks like FPGA teams are ready to take to roll of the asic farm. At least it is more than one miner so it will "hopefully" be more decentralized.

If we can get these PR's tested and merged, we should be good to go soon enough.

I have an electron wallet working on aeon mainnet for 12.9 right now. It's not pretty and it's not 100% complete but it works and it's very very easy to use/lightweight. I plan on verifying 100% functionality this week on Mac, Ubuntu, and Windows. After that, if it all looks good, I will make it pretty.


Also, you CAN mine on cellphones (pending armv8 or armv7). You can mine with android armV8 with cli binaries I created. It's not pretty but it works.

Stoffu has been doing a great job of pushing important updates to PR. I see we are now looking for release name (https://github.com/aeonix/aeon/issues/124) and most likely a release candidate for testing before we set a fork date. Unless there is something I have not been told, I do not see why we couldn't fork in august or September.

Yes, agreed. The total supply will matter for price, infinite supply will be more stable, however, also problematic if its demand does not match it. Someone already discouraged me from mentioning Grin's monetary policy in Grin's thread hehe. Maybe he does not want to stop denying the truth.
