I agree, XMG is an interesting project. Can't tell about profitability (not only as you didn't state any information about your mining hardware, power costs,...)

Don't forget to stake your coins for extra profit (PoW/PoS hybrid coin)

working with the CPU is possible. you can achieve profit margins there. depending on the coin you mine

Unless you have free energy, I doubt that many miners will make a profit from mining and selling those coins instantly.
The profit comes from finding coins with potential, building a stock of coins (eventualy staking them) and selling at higher prices.

There is a special mining software located at http://xmg.makejar.com/
Ignore the warning messages, they just appear as the software cointains mining software (if you don't trust, check the XMG thread).

What do you mean with better than XMR? Give more profit? A "better" coin or more potential, easier to mine? I don't think you can simply compare 2 coins and say "this one is better in general", it always depends on what is important for you. XMG has some advantages as well as some disadvantages, like any other coin. I would call it a long-time investment (no matter if mining or buying), especially as it's a PoW/PoS hyrid and you can stake your mined coins.
