The likelihood of aliens is extraordinarily high in our universe. We don't know if there are aliens that are like the ones in pop culture, but the probability of lifeforms outside of Earth is high.

It's not necessarily that aliens passed by, but rather:

Aliens have not detected us
Aliens are still below us in the technology-stage
There is a race of aliens ruling the galaxy screening for races that exceed a certain level of a technological stage, disregarding such pitiful targets such as Earth.

That depends on what your definition of intelligence is and how high you raise the bar to meet that criteria. I've seen a dog do some very "intelligent" things.

There are 100 billions of solar systems in the milky way alone. In those systems there are 8 to 20 planets. Then there are 200 billions of galaxy in the universe. What are the chances of having an aliens?
