Okay, that post was kind of a trap. But it's a friendly one, I promise...

A few months ago, I stopped mining on BTC Guild. This once powerful pool is now closing (closed). Problem was? I had left almost a whole BTC in there, carelessly, forgetting I hadn't withdrawn it. And hey, at current value, that's almost $250 wasted! No good!

So when I went to the site and found out my last chance to withdraw was Sept 30th, I was furious. I literally threw my mouse across the room. It survived.

I contacted their support email, but no one responded. I still requested my payout through the site, as well as via email...

Low and behold, just after midnight early this morning, they made the payout. I got my .96 BTC back. It wasn't much, but it was enough to annoy anyone, more than likely. My guess is that the payment server is still up, but perhaps paying out once a day? The site itself said once every hour, which is why I initially freaked out.

So... If you were previously mining using BTC Guild, and have any possible funds still in your account, NOW is the time to act. Your funds will be taken if you don't. So for those of you who were living under a rock like I was, go grab your funds while you still can. Who knows how much time is left!? And if I can save anyone's BTC, no matter how small an amount, then it's totally worth the few minutes it took to post this. I just felt the need to post a friendly heads up, because I was ecstatic to have NOT been robbed!

BTC Guild announced that they are closing down months ago, could be more than half a year ago. Where have you been all this time? BTC Guild's owner is one of the most responsible and honest pool admin. There might be delays, he is not going to rob your 1btc. Since you have received your payout, please change the topic title. It is unfair and untrue.

They've been warning. I used btcguild often muh and never had any problem with it. Your coins is your responsibility, not theirs so don't go ecstatic against the btcguild team. They've done their job.

Alright, maybe the clickbait was a bit spammy. But like I said, if it didn't get anyone's attention, it would defeat the purpose of the threat.

However... What they've been saying for years is irrelevant. I stopped mining there in April or so, if I remember correctly. Since then, I didn't get an email to my inbox, or anything like that. So I don't think it was totally insane to be pissed when I thought they were gone. I just felt like I wasn't worn, and had to suffer the consequences of something I wasn't told.

And yes, if payments continue to be processed even after site closing, this speaks highly of BTC Guild, no doubt. I am personally upset that Eleuthria closing up shop. It's where I started my cryptocurrency journey early last year...

But it does go to show you, do not leave your coins in a pool. Get them in your wallet and lock them down, or whatever you need to do... I almost had to learn this the hard way. Hence this thread, for anyone who's been living under a rock like me. :/

It is spammy and worse you are making a fake claim.  You are saying you were robbed by BTC Guild.  

Anyone who has logged in for past few months should know about what is happening to pool.  It's not a surprise they gave a lot of time, shutting it down very professionally and still are due respect.

You are making false accusations to grab clicks.  The ends don't justify the means.  I suggest changing this to an accurate title, or I predict you get some neg trust.  eleuthria has every right to neg trust you if you don't change this title.

I have no pity for anybody who tried to use the pool as a long term storage of coins.  So far the pool has given people FOUR MONTHS of time to withdraw, and continues to do so.  Additionally, if you had looked at the pool topic which I continue to bump infrequently, the very last post (2 days before this garbage topic) states that withdrawals were reduced to once every 6 hours.  The pool pays above average transaction fees, and over the last 2 weeks it was occasionally paying a TX fee higher than the amount being withdrawn, since withdrawal fees on amounts under 0.01 were removed completely after the closure.


You got no reply to your email because by the time I looked at your email you had already received your BTC.


EDIT:  And as stated above:  I have ALWAYS and *often* warned people to not leave balances on my pool or any other pool.  They are not wallet services.  BTC Guild took that a step further by eliminating the ability to request precise payouts.  You either got a 0.01 interval via automatic payment or the entire balance.  This was done purposely to eliminate anybody attempting to use the pool as a wallet.

I think you have been very fair to say the least.  I mean I was surprised how long you have given people to withdraw.  If you were a bad person like this topic originally had a topic like you would have closed one day and just stopped.

But you did not do that.  I'm happy OP changed topic from saying he was robbed.  I saw that then read how he got his coin no problem.   Was a waste of a click.

The issue I have here is the implication that people losing their coins should be just discarded and that you'll basically tell them they deserve what they got. Things can come up. People forget (my case).

The fact that I should have been more responsible is a given, but to say that someone like me would have deserved it is kind of heartless. Doesn't mean there's anything you can or should do about it, but to not feel even slightly bad about it, is quite an interesting type of moral character.

Justify taking people's money because they were given prior notice. If it were in the mail, suppose the bank sent a letter saying your house was being forclosed within the month and you didn't get it. And all of a sudden, there's a padlock on YOUR house (that you were behind on) with no real prior notice, etc.

You can only justify so much.

Your life does not have to revolve around bitcointalk to know this.  They have been mentioning it for MONTHS.  A hot wallet on a pool is not a spot for long term storage.   You should use a real wallet.   

People have got prior notice.  Your situation is rare at this point.   Your comparison is bad to.  If you get months notice about being  forclosed ... that is pretty fair.   

Please stop bumping this thread with your posting.  It is not saving anyone.

2nd item in the FAQ:

What happens if BTC Guild closes?

BTC Guild has outlined an official closure process on the bitcointalk.org forum thread (click here). To summarize the process:

1) The pool will provide 2 weeks notice prior to shutting down mining operations.
2) There will be at least a 3 month period (starting with the 2 weeks notice) for users to withdraw balances.
3) The minimum payout will be removed, but any transaction under 0.01 will have to pay the network transaction fee (which may be more than the balance owed).

This process may be altered due to the circumstances of the closure. If new laws or regulations come into effect that force the pool to be closed, it is possible the closure may have only a few weeks to process. Users should not leave balances unattended! Set auto withdrawals, always check the site for news at least once per week. If forced to close, unclaimed funds may not be retrievable after the closure date.

Fourth item on the terms of service:

4:   The pool is not an online wallet or bank

BTC Guild is not a bank or e-wallet. You cannot deposit coins into an account, transfer coins between accounts, or send specific amounts to third parties. Users should utilize automatic distributions to automatically receive their coins at regular intervals.

Sixth item on the terms of service:

6: Inactive accounts may be pruned and/or deleted

BTC Guild reserves the right to prune inactive accounts from its database if they have not been accessed in more than 1 year. An account is inactive if it has not been mined on AND has not been accessed through the website in more than 1 year. A 30-day notice will be by email (if one exists) prior to the permanent deletion of any account. Any balances remaining on an account that is permanently deleted will be considered a donation to the pool.

Seventh item on the terms of service:

7: 90 Days Notice of Closure

In the event that BTC Guild is being closed down, users will receive a minimum of 90 days notice before all services are disabled. After 90 days notice, any unclaimed balances will be kept by the pool. The 90 day notice can be superseded by a shorter notice period if the closure is caused by US Law/Regulations forcing the pool to shutdown.

Notices of pool closure will be made on the News section of BTC Guild, a warning at the top of every page while logged in, and the Bitcointalk.org's thread for BTC Guild.

As you can tell by the giant red notice on the site, I've actually continued to allow withdrawals well beyond the 90 days, currently more than 30 days beyond previously established closing process timelines.  Even beyond that, I loosened up withdrawal rules beyond what was previously promised, removing the transaction fee (0.0001) for amounts under 0.01, and instead just making 0.0001 the minimum at no fee.

I also never exercised the account pruning option in the terms of service.  Accounts were only pruned once (on accounts dating back to 2011 when the pool was proportional and donation based), but all data was kept in a separate database and is restored upon request if somebody comes back to an old account.

OP is honestly lucky he has not got a negative feedback yet.  The first title was really bad claiming he was robbed, then post was like i didn't get robbed! Just want attention.....

I suggest closing this topic at this point.  I think we have seen it is rare for any coins to be there, and BTC Guild has done more then most pools would at giving people a lot of time to withdraw coins.  And it should never have been used long term as a wallet.

OP at bottom left you will see close topic or something like that.  I suggest you do it and let this thread die.
