0.11.1 has been released with some fixes such as the buffer overflow one. Isn't the "News" thing automated to show latest version automatically or a mod has to do it manually?

I think an admin(not a mod) has to do it, but I wouldn't be too sure about it. At any rate give theymos some time to update it(if it is manual)

It was just released today, be patient. This is done manually. Theymos is a very busy man and I'm sure that he will change it as soon as possible. I'll notify him as well.

I think it's a good idea to wait at least a few weeks before upgrading to the most recent edition. Let them iron out the bugs 1st. I always wait a few weeks before I upgrade.

It's not automated.
Also it's not only used to announce the newest version of Bitcoin. It's also used to show various important news about Bitcoin.
I'm also suprised you made a thread considering it was released today, but I guess you had a strong belief that it was automatic.

In general that's true, but this is a bugfix release, so in this case it is good to upgrade as soon as possible. (If you're still on 0.10.x, 0.10.3 was just released as well with the same fixes.)

But I still need to do the gitian build to verify the binary before I update the news. Maybe tomorrow.

Why isn't 0.11.2 shown at the top now? It has been several days since it was released, enough time to do all of the gitian builds.

Because bct is just one of his 600 jobs, probably still recovering from midterm caffeine withdrawal.

Even this dogie could do the job of changing the header message every time a new version is out quicker than mod Cheesy

It has been days, time to upgrade.

Moderators do not change that message, admins do (that's why it takes a while). Also, stay away from my dog.

Has been changed now. The mods/admits are very busy and may not instantly update it, as it is not automated. Maybe they are waiting for the version to get tested and when it's 100% bug free they'll update the version.

It takes long because Theymos builds and verifies the binary manually before updating the news. It is just a few posts up. Not that hard to find...
