http://whois.domaintools.com/vekja.net is a scammer. I have/had deposited bitcoin at vekja.net anonymously, back when the site was up, and one could do that.
Since the site has gone offline, I have contacted both the admin contacts for it and thufir via PM here. Not surprised that there has not been any response.

http://vekja.net has always provided a Free web based Bitcoin account even better than the mybitcoin service mentioned above (in addition to the non-free Email and Web service that I announced earlier).
I should have announced this separately before, as there is such great value in a Bitcoin Web App. The value is not just for Grandpa, but is also for anyone who wants to use Bitcoin on a mobile device (or any platform where there is no client yet available).

I am glad the word "always" has a different meaning to most of us, as compared to thufir, Sam Maloney, or whoever this is. This one took the site offline with other people's bitcoins without even the lame charade mybitcoin.com put up.
I think "services" like vekja.net are the main reason bitcoin hasn't "caught on" yet. Here is another gem from the good old days when it all began:
