One of the possibility would be that huge Chinese speculators are playing a funny game that bring them a lot of money.
I was surprised to see bitcoin price increase without hear some news, maybe this is just manipulation by china market before christmas and i guess they want to take a profit in christmas day
Does that mean the price will go down back to $250 after christmas Sad
I was actually surprised too that the price went up in just one week Grin
especially the minimum news that we get regarding the price Sad

No one knows exactly what caused the price to go up. There hasn't been much interesting news that might give the Bitcoin price a certain direction. Don't worry about China, worry about when you're too late with buying.

The recent price surge may be because of new exchange which was expected to boost bitcoin price as new revolution and the latest ASICs are another reason when the mining cost considerably increases people will prefer to buy instead of investing in mining.

I guess it could be a whole lot of reasons. But probably the halving could also have something to do with it. If you think about it, some people are dumping BTC because the price is rising while others are accumulating

Yes, we have recovered after yesterday's drop and have broken through $270 again today. This starts looking more and more like a nice little run and not just a pump and dump. I started thinking as well that halving has more and more with this. But we will know soon enough. If no other reason shows up in the next 10 days and the rise continues then it must be halving.

It's just a normal rise and it stopped already. We'll see 230-240$ coins next month again.

the price has been rising steadily for some weeks now. These last few days, the rise is has been bigger in relation to past periods. now in the last few hours and after bitcoin price nearing almost $270 we see a huge crash.

There's a lot of explanations for this price behavior... what's yours?

I have heard humors about the bitcoins price rising up and falling,
it is  very unstable these days. We just have to keep hoping it will stable in the future.

The price behavior is somehow unpredictable but observing its price it is rising although it shows sign of falling down but the probability of it going up is more accurate.

There are a lot of time that I hear the price would rise up and sometimes the price will drop but here's the thing whatever may happen to the price whether it grows up or down just keep on holding to the coins.

This is how, a commodity usually trades. There is no steep buying or falling to any commodity as trend of buying and selling changes with the traders mind set as well as profit booking and new trades are other reasons. Bitcoin moves to higher price as per the current trend.

This is one of the plausible reasons there is why there is a surge of price in the past weeks. Many people are accumulating now for the incoming halving which is set at Q2 2016. Interestingly, China has also been active in trading. This is just the beggining of what has to come.

looking at some charts or price tickers for 20 minutes doesn't say anything about what the price will do the rest of the day.
