For someone who, apart from some mental issues, seemed to be the personification of the 'Randian Hero' Atlas ended  up not getting much love around here.

I thought the Randian Heros actually created something in those stories? All Atlas did was expose everyone to his diarrhea of the mouth! He was actually more like the villains who just sat around and talked.

Exactly - Atlas had all the ideas of the "Randian Hero" but he possessed absolutely zero followthrough to his ambition.  Which sort of misses Rand's point.  I do think that Atlas put forward some ideas and ambition that OTHERS actually wound up acting on - often with substantial changes, but he put things out there and drove the community in the early days.  IE I think bitcoin's trajectory might have been quite different without Atlas for all his flaws.

I doubt it. Atlas was an idea man, for sure, but just because he thought of some things first doesn't mean that they wound't have been thought of by others in due course.

"The powers of financial capitalism had another far-reaching aim, nothing less than to create a world system of financial control in private hands able to dominate the political system of each country and the economy of the world as a whole. This system was to be controlled in a feudalist fashion by the central banks of the world acting in concert, by secret agreements arrived at in frequent meetings and conferences. The apex of the systems was to be the Bank for International Settlements in Basel, Switzerland, a private bank owned and controlled by the world's central banks which were themselves private corporations. Each central bank...sought to dominate its government by its ability to control Treasury loans, to manipulate foreign exchanges, to influence the level of economic activity in the country, and to influence cooperative politicians by subsequent economic rewards in the business world."

- Carroll Quigley, CFR member, mentor to Bill Clinton, from 'Tragedy And Hope'

There are several different types of Bitcoin clients. The most secure are full nodes like Bitcoin Core, but full nodes are more resource-heavy, and they must do a lengthy initial syncing process. As a result, lightweight clients with somewhat less security are commonly used.

I would turn the Bitcoins into physical assets and buy a couple of small apartment buildings and a grocery. Retire in a very early age and work 24/7/365 till I die on making Bitcoin a better technology. Already got tons of plans and they need soul and body dedication to make them happen.

I don't want to be "rich". I just want money to not be a grave issue for me and my family. I don't want them to live on "check to check" model.

Will take me a while to climb up again, But where is a will, there is a way...

This thread doesn't work anymore.

I am pretty confident it will work again as soon as it dies and is re-discovered some months later when we hit $1000. So please let's keep it alive, who knows, maybe it's now working in the opposite direction! Cheesy

I think it's funny that this thread seems to appear when the price is either tanking or hitting new highs.

I'm not aiming to be a millionaire or even considered "wealthy" I only want to be able to help cover bills etc, hopefully in the future I might be able to help pay for my first car, who knows.

Some capable enterpreneurial artist needs to make t-shirts with a discrete pocket Bitcoin logo circled by the words "New Wealthy Elite".  I'd buy one.

When 9 billion people are using bitcoin and I control 1 entire bitocoin, that will be a good day.

You add two billions more to the population of the world and 'good days' will be fewer and farther between than they are today...
