This is a distraction and off topic.  The holdings of Satoshi are largely irrelevant to the considerations that BTC prices have appreciated considerably, and perhaps took a bit longer than OP had anticipated, but really in the past year, we have experienced decent exponential growth that also seems to have allowed for buy support to build up along with the rising BTC prices.

Sure, wealthy elite, gentlemen status is relative and also might depend largely in which part of the world such gentleman lives, in able to reach such "gentleman" status.... Yet, arguably, in 2016, we might have concluded that such gentleman may have needed 10k coins or more with an approximate BTC price of $700-ish - yet now, we could perhaps cut such requirement by 25x, and suggest that 400 BTC would be enough.  Give us some more BTC price appreciation and we will be migrating down the scale of how many coins are necessary to reach such "gentleman" status.

Bitcoin could be the singularity but.. what will be the bitcoin? The segwit VS big block battle is not yet resolved and I'd be willing to pay serious coin for an atlas-like revelation

And still this hard fought war is still ongoing. BITCOINS price is falling at the moment and the altcoin BCC on the other hand is rising, were still unclear on what will be the outcome? Will the fire in bitcoin and its holders will survive>? or will everyone will turn in the other way around? Or is this just a market speculation? Who knows.
For the meanwhile, some of us are losing several hundreds dollars in mere seconds (including me) the market is dangerous when you let your emotion fly. Still it is better to just observe right now. OMG! This post was made almost 6.5 years ago. Had anyone said back then that Bitcoin would reach prices of $10,000 per coin, then he could have been branded as a lunatic. And I am sure that 99% of the holders in 2011 didn't had the patience to hold on to their coins for six years.

I honestly trust that bitcoin will last for a long time based on how large the demands for it but yeah, we still have be prepared and allocation of investments to different various investment hubs is the best way to do it.
