When I told my wife I was going to buy bit coins she was highly skeptical. Then the next morning I sat down to look how bitcoins had done and my wife asked me what I was doing. I said I was checking how my investment went and she started to say she was still skeptical. I interrupted her with "it made us $700 dollars overnight" Her skepticism disappeared completely.

I don't wanna be part of a new elite replacing the old one. Fuck the yachts. If I become a Bitcoin Billionaire I'm going to open entrepreneurial academies and startup incubators in developing countries.

going 'whole hog', to borrow an american phrase, is almost never a good investment strategy. diversification is almost always better, particularly when bankruptcy is a real risk. (incidentally, what does an honest libertarian do when facing legal bankruptcy, which is of course basically a protection against legitimate debt offered by a welfare state? does he or she decline the legal protection because it results from 'force'?)

Think about it: With sound money, it will not be necessary to panic buy houses bigger than you need, people can save to their pension in money, which means that the demand for sound money is bigger than demand for inflating fiat money.

I'm a bit pissed off that I offloaded all my bitcoins in 2011 because I lost interest. I would have been very rich now if I just had the balls to hold them.

Like 20days after the OP's post, we saw the peak of the first bitcoin bubble.

This x 1000.

I feel I didn't act quick enough when I first found out about Bitcoin. Now I hope I'm making up for lost time.

The potential rewards are so great that if I lose a few £1000 on this I don't think I will regret it.

Things this revolutionary do not come along very often, like only every 300 years to a millenia in the past have we had changes in philosophical and technical aspects of the medium of exchange.

Now for those who bought and held from early on, you will have the power to face the world on your own terms.

Talk about chickens and hatched eggs... bitcoin still has a long way to go politically and technically. Unk is correct on his points, and those with the necessary technical skills should carefully consider and attack the issues he raises.

No doubt that bitcoin is the future that will make us successful and rich, if we are patient and panicked then we will get a good price, now is the time to buy because the price is cheap ($ 7800), end of year we will get big profit like last year.

True, commodity speculators are not adding or subtracting the commodity from the economy.

Legal growing pains. I expect somebody doing something illegal and using bitcoins to help do it will get caught, put in jail, and that will be mis-reported as "bitcoins are illegal!" I'd say there's a 1 in 5 chance of bitcoin being made outright illegal in the USA, but I also know that I'm terrible at accurately predicting stuff.

I was very lucky to purchase some bitcoins today. I think you are spot on. If less than 50 million will be made, the value per bit coin will be ridiculous in the coming months...

Those people entering the Bitcoin community much earlier were very lucky. They have made such a huge wealth with almost doing nothing really. All you need to have in those years back then was enough amount of faith and trust in Bitcoin. That was enough for you to become a very rich man today. However, I also noticed that many of those who came much earlier also sold some or a bigger portion of their Bitcoin holdings when the price reached as high $500. Even with that amount, a huge wealth was already made. After all, it also took several years for Bitcoin to finally reach a thousand dollars in value.
