Can IOTA really scale that well?
IN THEORY it can scale infinitely because no one network participant needs to audit any more of the tangle than he is capable of auditing. It's like a volunteer thing. Every bit helps but you don't HAVE to help. But the software is still basically alpha proof of concept stage. Time will tell if we can really get there. in practice however you get 24 hour confirm times sometimes for transactions, so the scaling still has to be proven beyond the whitepaper.

How are transactions verified without miners? It sounds good in theory that when you make a transaction you verify the two previous transactions. BUT, how exactly are they validated? Computer?

If 1000 miota = 1 iota
That means $4.25 miota = $4,250.00 per IOTA. is that correct?
If so, that seems like a high valuation for an IOTA.
Is this a coin like XRP where we can expect it to go up in cents and not full dollars?

In order to produce a transaction you must validate two previous transactions by performing proof of work. Later someone will come along and do the same for yours.

Yes, I've seen it at over 30 tps when there were more transactions occuring in the network, way over bitcoin and eth....and that's just the begining, the mor the network grows, the higher the tps we'll see. Definitely no scaling issues. What we need is mass adoption, but partnering with the big companies should help drive that.

How do you stop malicious parties from forming isolated networks of a size suitable for block verification, mining at the maximum rate possible, and then rejoining the larger network to cash in while resulting in runaway inflation?
