So, will Lisk be a pump and dump?

As Crypti long term supporter (1,5 years) I elected not to participiate in Lisk IPO (you can find details in my post history). In best case scenario they will bring to it's investors 2x ROI. Lead developer Boris is not writing code for them.
There are several different types of Bitcoin clients. The most secure are full nodes like Bitcoin Core, but full nodes are more resource-heavy, and they must do a lengthy initial syncing process. As a result, lightweight clients with somewhat less security are commonly used.

Could IOTA be of interest for Slock.it?

Yes. IOTA can work with Slock.it. David (from IOTA) is already in touch with Slock.it team.

1. Lisk is raising more funds partially due to the different timing. When we started the crowdsale Bitcoin was still in a slump and was just starting to go upwards, which make a lot of people unwilling to spend them. Ethereum hadn't 20x'ed yet, it was at like $1.5 with hodlers, so no new crypto-rich people.

You know i love iota and i have supported this project from the beginning, but i don't agree with this.

Lisk is rising more founds because they use a lot of Marketing and all the ico procedure is easy and user friendly.

Iota crowdslaes was more advanced user oriented and without any marketing supporting the ICO.

We actually had more marketing than Lisk had, way more articles written and followers, but yes we did not go all out on forum marketing, because IOTA is a serious project, we did not want to attract as many speculators as possible.
I am not sure I agree that it was more 'advanced', sure it was not a login like their sale is, but all you needed to do was deposit X btc into an address and make sure it was from an address you you had control over.

It's undeniable that bitcoin's boost and subsequent stabilization + ethereum 20xing had a lot to do with it imo.

But honestly it's not even a discussion I care about. I gave Max free advice prior to them launching Lisk and wished him good luck. We may end up competing (I see they are suddenly focusing on IoT which he never mentioned to me), but I don't really see them as competitors, we're doing something entirely different.

Max lost almost all my respect  Undecided
I guess he just explicitly decided for himself to make as much money on Lisk as possible. For him personally.

On IOTA:

I'm very excited for the start of the network - Microsoft was a huge spirit lifter and the technology and use cases look promising, I'm very happy to be a part of this journey.

On LISK:

Max and Olivier need to prove themselves - I agree with you 100%. Trust has been significantly shaken. If I don't see real progress, I will be leaving as well sometime after the network goes live.

Just chiming in. There will be no 2nd ICO, because IOTA doesn't need more money to succeed. No part of selling software tokens has anything to do with appeasing people that missed the offering.

FOR RENT.

True and false, IOTA will likely need a ton more money to succeed long term, cost of maintenance, attending conferences, developing products on top of it, marketing etc. will cost millions of dollars, but it has to come from the community itself, via. investors into projects and holders putting up bounties, not a top down approach.

Dense much?

You are indeed if you think that tokens just randomly increase in value due to some magical 'law of crypto'.
For IOTA to succeed in terms of wide adoption the community has to put in the effort, just like the community of Ethereum has for Ethereum, this has been obvious to every sane and intelligent person from day 1. No idea why you bring up "IPO investors rich", I don't think you even know what 'IPO' means

My suggestion is when someone is posting nothing but profanity and attacking the devs and Iota without even a reason given, that the posts should be deleted.

I know the line needs to drawn carefully, as we don't want to censor legitimate concerns.

I feel this has clearly passed the line in some of the posts on this page.

Do others in the community agree??

Hey, hashtag. IndiaMikeZulu just droppin' in to touch base: we hold IoTa:

'open source' is not the same as 'pure anarchy.' This constant willingness to tolerate angry people 'because we're all about open source' is really keeping crypto development back. The OP has the right -- should unhesitatingly -- censor anti-social material. That keeps the precious 'ANN thread' valuable. Haters are welcome to start a competing thread.
