According to NIST and ECRYPT II, the cryptographic algorithms used in Bitcoin are expected to be strong until at least 2030. (After that, it will not be too difficult to transition to different algorithms.)

CfB, where can I make my new claim? I had already claimed, but we must now do it again - I will do it later this week.

In 0.9.4 which is not available yet.

I have to admit, I am missing unambiguous and highly visible instructions on how and when claims have to be made.

Even following the chat, the IOTA forum and the threads here, I sometimes feel a bit confused as to if I may be missing out something.

So far, I have made exactly ONE claim of IOTA, and that was by providing a seed or secret passphrase - the 'offline' usage thing from what was apparently a passphrase generator.

I have not touched anything else, because I want to be really sure that I don't make any mistakes.

Having more visible and unambiguous instructions would be really nice, and also prevent ugly incidents if someone loses IOTA due to misunderstandings...

Very understandable l8orre. Claiming will be easy: In the client, you'll have to enter your original seed, press a button, done. According to cfb you'll have ~ 1 year to do it.

Exactly the same situation here. IOTA still lacks a little bit of precise unambiguous communication.

My understanding, which could be wrong, is that claiming it now doesnt really matter because its all likely going to be rolled back at the end of testing anyway and we will need to reclaim it.

More communication and updates on regular channels, like the website, newsletter and OP would be nice for me too.

No definite date yet, while still in the beta phase IOTA need to be almost perfect before releasing it to the wild. This will avoid irreversible development problem in the future.

Communication has been terrible because there is nothing to report. Development has completely stalled at this point. Look at the chat room, nothing for days, people are talking about other projects to pass the time. But of course it's the community's fault for not doing enough to test or whatever.

The communication issue is primarily due to things changing all the time. Previously we were unsure if we'd require a rollback at all, but in the event of it we gave everyone a warning that it might happen. Now regarding claiming, yes you will only need to claim it with a simple click within 1 year.

He's a verified troll, of course he's just lying. Developement hasn't stalled one second, in fact in many ways it has ramped up. Everone should just ignore him, if he keeps posting non-sense his posts will just be deleted. He's not worthy of attention.

Agree! I registered on Ryver but it is hard to follow all the news and discussions there. It would be great to summarize the most important developments in one weekly newsletter, similar to the SuperNET newsletter.

More communication and updates on regular channels, like the website, newsletter and OP would be nice for me too.

Hey, whatever it takes for you to post an actual update here.  Assuming we are still waiting for the port?  How about GUI development?
