A factual question: I remember reading that IoTA got 1,337BTC's worth of buys, of which ~850 was in Bitcoin itself. So here's the question: did those funds get released to the devs?

Thanks.

I'm not sure how to interpret this question? Did the money we raised go to us in the way we said it would? Yes. Plus of course VAT taxes, since we operate in the real world and don't try to evade taxes or other schemes.

There's no need to interpret the question; I was just asking if you had received the money.

The Bitcoin network protocol was designed to be extremely flexible. It can be used to create timed transactions, escrow transactions, multi-signature transactions, etc. The current features of the client only hint at what will be possible in the future.

Yes. We got the funds to develop the software of IOTA and Jinn.

Another question, with no need for any "interpret": Smiley

This snippet comes from the original post:
Iota does not seek to replace the blockchain entirely, it also acts as a supplementation to the current blockchain ecosystem by acting as a oracle for smart contract platforms like Ethereum and Rootstock.

It touches upon something that I've been wondering about. Unlike in crypto space, getting your hands on live price data for conventional assets requires forking out money. Case in point: this service offers a gold-price API for $30 per month that's updated once a minute.

Believe it or not, this is pretty cheap. The NYSE offers live transmissible stock-market data for both NYSE & NASDAQ stocks at a price of $15,000 per month! Shocked

With these...monetization strategies attached to conventional financial data, getting a reasonably accurate feed takes on a different dimension. From what I've read, the least insecure (from an engineering standpoint) is a DPoS system. But therein lies the block: for a full DPoS 101-delegate system to feed in live gold prices would require a collective spend of more than $3,000 per month (one independent API account for each delegate.) This could be lowered by finding a cheaper feed, as well as by other means, but it's still costly.

On the other hand, me going it alone by shooting the gold data directly into (say) the Nxt blockchain via Arbitrary Message would oblige anyone who uses that data to trust me - and would require me to make sure I have a bit of redundancy to hedge against VPS failure (for one.)

Is there any way for IoTA to help with this dilemma? If so, it could be used as a feeder for smart contracts & bridge the gap between old data and new.

Thanks.

What is the official amount of bitcoins raised in the ICO from bitcoin and JINN? Is it 1337 btc as stated above by NxtBlg?

Will there be a caution 2-3 days before IOTA will finally be released? I actually thought 1st June will be the official release date so I prepared myself to stay away from appointments and obligations on 31st May, 1st June and 2nd June to totally focus on the IOTA release. It was completely in vain Grin However, I would like to be prepared for next release date again.

It was no random assumption Cheesy I have had no time to follow all the communication on the various IOTA thread and someone posted 1st June will be the official start. So I guessed it will be the release date  Smiley

Thanks, it worked for me by adding sudo in front of the java -jar command.

What is the seed in nostalgia.html file? Is it something like a passphrase?

http://localhost:999 is loading a long time without showing up. Is there a problem at the moment?

I wanted to create my first IOTA address. By running the jar I am getting a BindException.

The seed is your passphrase to get access to your IOTAs

I would like to sell 2779530000000 ( 1 million old iotas ) so exactly 0,1 % of the max supply for 20 btc , I bought the coins via escrow from windjic , so the problem is I can just send the coins once I get them.

So for me to get my coins quicker and you as a buyer to be safe I would offer to the devs that (with windjics confirmation) the coins are withdrawn from the adress to another adress I get my coins from escrow and I donate 10 % of those to the foundation.

So if it all works out like that I am offering 2501577000000 ( 900000 old Iotas ) , 0,09 % of all coins for 18.5 btc and the rest goes to foundation.

Of course you can also get the full 2779530000000 for 20 btc with escrow.
