I think IOTA need some correction now, but we will definitely see a great correction of every altcoin soon (when BTC will start deep falling).

To be honest I wanted to sell around 30% IOTA when value was 5.4 USD but it did not work out, because transactions did not work

When the demand will increase than it will be pretty hard for Polo to ignore this token but at the moment it looking they will add this just sending request again and again. I hope soon it will be on all bigger exchange but I would like hodl.

I have a question regarding string to trytes conversion. Either I have a mistake or the Python library provided by IOTA has a bug. I suspect the first applies.

I want to calculate the trytes of string "IOTA" and used iota.lib.py library to do it programmatically. I received SBYBCCKB.

Then I did it manually. First I take the ASCII numbers of the letters.

I = 73
O = 79
T = 84
A = 65

Then I apply the trinary based mathmatic formula to meet the numbers

I = 73 = (1*3⁰)+(0*3¹)+(-1*3²)+(0*3³)+(1*3⁴)+(0*3⁵)
Thus trytes are 1 0 -1 0 1 0. According to the IOTA alphabet it is SC

O = 79 = (1*3⁰)+(-1*3¹)+(0*3²)+(0*3³)+(1*3⁴)+(0*3⁵)
Thus trytes are 1 -1 0 0 1 0. According to the IOTA alphabet it is YC

T = 84 = (0*3⁰)+(1*3¹)+(0*3²)+(0*3³)+(1*3⁴)+(0*3⁵)
Thus trytes are 0 1 0 0 1 0. According to the IOTA alphabet it is CC

A = 65 = (-1*3⁰)+(1*3¹)+(1*3²)+(-1*3³)+(1*3⁴)+(0*3⁵)
Thus trytes are -1 1 1 -1 1 0. According to the IOTA alphabet it is KB

Hence my calculation gives SCYCCCKB whereas the python library gives SBYBCCKB (red colored parts differ)

To complete the information I use the IOTA alphabet which starts
 0 0 0 = 9
 1 0 0 = A
-1 1 0 = B
 0 1 0 = C
...

Where is the mistake, or is it just an error of reasoning?

I see you're new to bitcointalk, welcome! Just an FYI, asking questions like this are usually pointless. No one here can predict the future. If you are looking to buy and hold until 2018, then I'd say just buy now, hold the coin in a wallet, and don't look at the ticker every day. It's bound to go up in the current state of the market, but I cannot speak on behalf of the 2018 markets - especially Q4 2018, who knows what the market will be like at that point in time.

As of now, IOTA is in the top 10 for marketcap. That usually leads to good things. Ripple has 38,739,144,847 XRP in circulating supply - 19x more than IOTA. At the time of posting this comment, ripple is ~75-77cents. If XRP had the same amount of coins as IOTA (2,779,530,283), then it's current cost would be 14 dollars. Just some food for thought. Once IOTA hits a market like Bittrex, I'm sure marketcap will grow, hoping for 10 dollars+ one of these days.
