Bitcointalk forums are full of scammers, spammers and tricksters

Well, I have been spending a lot of time on these forums (my stats report I have been logged in for over four days). One thing I can say is openness always leads to the possibly of being fucked over. I've seen it time and time again not only in the lending section, but even in a popular thread I had to close due to there being little discussion and the implementation of a spam bot being used to make the sock puppeteer a passive income spamming the forum.

If I were the spammer, I would only make such a bot to show employers on this forum my programming skills. People who do this in my opinion have very little social skills and in my opinion have to have a  severe case of Asperger Syndrome to not put his programming skills to use. Think about it: they don't have the confidence to put themselves out there on the internet and use their coding skills for good use.

I think it may be time to upgrade this site to a WordPress based site. That way, people won't abuse the system and spam, and a more friendly atmosphere can be fostered here and people are more productive here.

(PS: Just for the record, I have autism myself. I am not trying to attack people with Asperger Syndrome)

I joined 7 teams and now we sell altcoins to them - not destorying them but making their pumps way slower.

I were in around 10 groups and 3 were 100% scams.
Thats life heh.

You must be pertaining to the League of Spammers who goes by the names of LoL characters and just spam with the same context in their posts and comments consecutively in a single thread? I think it is a bot doing these kind of posts as the interval between posts is just under a minute or two. As for scammers, it is normal in a place where money is involved.

I think it may be time to upgrade this site to a WordPress based site. That way, people won't abuse the system and spam, and a more friendly atmosphere can be fostered here and people are more productive here.

Wordpress is blog software.  It would not be an upgrade in any way.

I think the only solution is when you open a thread, make it self moderated this way you will see already that those posters or rather spammers will avoid posting there mainly due to the chance of getting their posts deleted ... ( I've been here 18 days, 4 hours and 21 minutes as time of typing this ) And as to the scammers, the only way is to be careful enough so you won't get tricked by their plans and there are many which is hard to control them ....By the way what makes you think a WordPress based site could help in this matter? I don't get it

WordPress has a plugin, bbPress which enabled a threaded based forum which in my experience is better than what SMF has to offer. In addition, it is easy to develop different WordPress modules which would handle things like lending, buying and selling. What I am saying is this forum's inherent open nature gives too many people the opportunity to scam and there are more than enough developers to mod WordPress to get a custom Bitcoin oriented community forum.

I run several wordpress blogs, and they get abused/hacked several times a year... Even if wordpress was a forum software, i would never recommand it for a forum as big as BCT.

I don't know what to say then really. Freedom of speech is important, but your right to freedom of speech does not give you the right to harm others. During an election, I can't tear down the signs of the candidate I do not like from the lawns of others. I could be imprisoned under the Elections Act. Lying and scamming is wrong.

I'm not arguing with you... I've been scammed a couple of times, and it's not a nice feeling.
In my personal opinion, scammers could be handled in a different way (for example permabanning). But i think most of the forum members don't care, so nothing is going to change.

The only thing you can currently do is: make sure you always cover yourself in case you do business (never invest in a shady business, never do business without collateral/escrow,...). You can also fight against scammers and spammers by reporting them, giving them -ve and warning others in case you see a suspicious thread...

What is boils down to is: it's not the forum software that lets scammers scam, it's the basic concensus/rules of this forum that allow them to do their business... But since you're always free to leave, i think nothing will be done

You've spend a lot of time with 4 days logged in? Come back to me when you reach 190 days. Your suggestion is bad and you obviously have no technical expertise since Wordpress would be a "great" upgrade security wise.
If you stay away from the altcoin section and use common sense in the marketplace you should be fine.

I really doubt that Wordpress can offer a better and more secure forum software which is being used now. Besides, the new forum software will be coming eventually. That can probably help whatever you're complaining about.

Also, as for the scammers and such, use your brain while trading and you likely won't run into any issues. Trusting anyone on a big trade without escrow is asking for trouble, whether negative or positive trust.

Is this your first forum site that you visit regularly? Hey all forums involving money and those with only side money section in a forum is always like that. We can't do nothing about that (at least banned the spammers) so we are the one who have to adjust and not the scammers, spammers etc will. Take precautions. There will be no scammers if no people will try to be not scammed. For spammers, yeah every forum has spammer. Good thing here it's instanly banned. Others forums doesn't do that and can take couple of weeks before moderators will take look of the spam report.

I find the forumboard great actually.
Although the forum don't have alert system like the xenforos have to which alerts user whenever someone replied to the thread they subscribed, the forum is great.  Scammers and spammers and tricksters and all there even in the real world so be warned.

if those skilled programmers are confident enough to show portfolio then they are that good with their skills and possibly could get projects as well.

It does not? I doubt that your statement is true. Scams are not being moderated and you should know that. The number of scams in the altcoin section is quite high. Aside from that I do not see a reason for which there would be a lack of moderation in that section. Maybe the users are not reporting enough posts?

There is no way to upgrade standards of people. It would be pointless to move to Word Press or any other platform.
If you want to be around classy and honest people, you need to find them yourself. When money is important part there always will be spam, scam and idiocy involved.
