This is not surprising since his father is the most popular player in the NBA franchise. Lebron is the first person in the NBA history who gather All Star on his own team just to get championship. He is the GOAT of making All star team.
He started it and in fact won his championship with the heat, 2 times I guess. But now, these super teams being created may not be working anymore as things have change a lot, those teams with few superstars tend to play better because they have a good chemisty and they play with real team work.

Besides Lebron already have the control over Lakers since he will leave the team if his demands doesn’t meet which Lakers doesn’t want to happened.

Lebron and Bronny will be subjected for continuous criticism as long as they playing together tho.

For sure, LeBron can influence the management, but he is not in control yet. His popularity will not help the team if he can't bring them to the playoffs and win another championship. Now, with his son playing with him, that's already historic, but it remains to be seen if his son is deserving of getting drafted. It seems like his NBA dream is too easy, while others really work hard and pray hard for it.

Brunson wants a ring, that's it. He is trying to give his team room to sign someone else to help the team IMO. I think he felt like last year was their year and they couldn't close it out and now he's pissed and hungry.
Imho, that was not the smartest move if he did it for a ring chance. I would somewhat understand if they were actually close to winning the championship (like for example loosing the final in 7th game) but they got kicked out in conference semifinal (iirc) which was not really close and will have some tough competition on the east in the foreseeable future.

For sure, LeBron can influence the management, but he is not in control yet.
Of course he is in the control there as no way in hell would Lakers (or any other team for that matter) would draft Bronny at his current state which is nowhere good enough for NBA.

I agree, that he has the influence but he has no control over the entire franchise. He's still a player of it and the management knows what they're up to. They are up for the legacy and that's why they let him be influenced by Lebron. And as for that spot if Bronny is deserving or not, we have to move on and let him do his own numbers this time. Even we keep on charging him with these contexts, it won't change the fact that his career already started and he's got a long way to go.

Lakers is a business and with LeBron and Bronny together they are making money though I agree that LeBron influence is a factor but without him and his son bringing money to the franchise for sure it will be easier to let them go, but it's not the case even LeBron is past on his prime fans who loves him and his legacy will continue to buy tickets and merchants and that's where the Lakers is really enjoying and they will keep that as it is while there are still people who continue doing business with them.

Bronny is only good to watch because of his father, but once his father retires, people will always remember LeBron as a Hall of Famer, but Bronny? not sure. However, there's only one GOAT in the sport, and that is MJ. Also, I doubt people would still follow the Lakers if LeBron retires and the team struggles even with Bronny still on the team. I also think that LeBron knows the real capability of his son and is just trying to use his influence to give some popularity to his son in the NBA, but he knows it will not last because only talent can keep an NBA player in the league, and he has that; his son doesn't.

Bronny's defense is good but he need to be a threat on offense so that he will not became a liability on Lakers. But everything is good and he get that $7.9 million guaranteed contract for 4 years since that means his future is secured  and he has a lot of time to learn and improve in Lakers organization.
That's already a decent pay check to him and for sure once he's done with it, there will be another contract.

It could be again with the Lakers if not, there will be other teams that are willing to take him. We shall wait and see him grow for that period of time.

Aside from his dad, he's got a lot of mentor and willing to for sure.

Chances are most of these guys don't get contracts again.  Bronny probably would not even have been drafted if it weren't for his dad.  Let's be real it's no coincidence that his dad was a free agent amd the team that wanted/needed to sign him also drafted his son.  Bronny was an average freshman in college there were plenty better than him.  My guess is he runs out this contract, his dad retires and then bronny phases out of the NBA getting 10 day contracts on teams just looking to get some interest in there team.

That makes sense. It puts pressure on the management to meet LeBron's demands to ensure that he'll re-sign with the Lakers. Even if LeBron doesn't say it directly, they already know that they have to please him to keep him. LeBron is not the same player he once was, but his impact on the team is still significant. Plus, his popularity helps generate more income to the team as long as he is playing on the court. That's probably the factor the Lakers considered when they drafted Bronny, even though he might be a non-factor in the actual game.

Yes you are right many of these players did not get another contract after their current one ends. Bronny situation is special because his dad is famous basketball player. Bronny did not play that well in college and there were many better players than him. I think he will have hard time making it big in NBA and will probably only get short term contracts or temporary deals because of his dad fame. Sadly his NBA career might be more about his dad success than his own abilities.

the commentator said that he played 3 games, scored 15 points, out of 26 shots he only made 6. I don't know if the data is correct or not, I also don't know what the Lakers coach's opinion is about Bronny James' performance, but my The point is that the tendency will be to look at him and then at the country when he was younger and they will simply criticize Bronny James. I believe it would have been a better choice if Bronny James had gone to another team and then when he showed great skills and saw that his father retired and people no longer talk much about his father, then he could accept going to the Lakers if he was invited . because that way he would create his Legacy, without being in his father's shadow
Whatever team he goes it will just be the same.
He will be compared, criticized, and maybe worse to the point that he might break down if he cannot take it mentally. I like what Lebron told the media though when asked about his son. He will create his own future and he will not interfere with it. But I think the support should be there especially mentally because the media won't stop comparing his skills while he is still young to the skills of his father at the same age.

I am curious what it would look like during practices and training camps, I mean father and son, it could become awkward at times especially if the father is doing things with his teammates that he ain't doing at home.

And that's why people think that he's in control but no. The signs that Lebron has shown through being a free agent is there and he even lessen the contract and years of possible signing. It's a brilliant thing for a dad just to make himself play with his son. Now, they're the first one to make this history. Will they make another history of father and son to have the first championship ring? I guess that's even the better or the best of the best record in history that might have someone try to beat it in the future. And not to mention, his other son Bryce will come soon and I guess that if he's still in the league then another consideration might happen and this is what the fans didn't like after the Lakers drafted Bronny.

Let's be real it's no coincidence that his dad was a free agent amd the team that wanted/needed to sign him also drafted his son.

That's to accommodate more players, including his son. LeBron really wants to win a championship with the Lakers again, which is why he signed a lower contract. It would be nice for his legacy if that happens again, especially with his son this time. LeBron is a great father and a good person; he has charities to help people, making him a good example as a basketball player.

However, you can't avoid thinking that he might have influenced the Lakers to draft his son. That's probably part of the package, but I don't think the Lakers are at a big loss even if Bronny doesn't average good numbers since his contract isn't that significant. Let's give him one season and see how the Lakers perform.

That was the argument before, that Bronny was drafted by the Lakers because of nepotism. But as far as his game goes, he is not ready for this league. Even in the Summer league he didn't show us something that might raise our eyebrows and says that he is the one.

And we all know that Lebron sooner or later will have to retire and we don't know what will happen to Bronny after that. But in any case, they've already made history in the NBA and most likely, I'm seeing them playing along side each other even for just a brief minutes to cement the James history and it will be hard to broken and that record will stay for many decades.

What can we expect? he didn't even played well during his NCAA times.
His stats are not special. https://www.sports-reference.com/cbb/players/bronny-james-1.html

He'll only be subject for criticism, that's the reality, but he can change that if he'll work hard and maybe improve and be like a star player.
Hopefully someday

And we all know that Lebron sooner or later will have to retire and we don't know what will happen to Bronny after that. It will be worst if his father will retire and he will too.  Grin
I mean, what's the use of staying in a team if he can't even contribute well, he will only become a liability, and if his father will retire, the management will have no more pressure on keeping Bronny, probably he'll be EOC or will be traded.

One of LeBron's biggest dreams was to play on the same team with his son. In fact, if I remember correctly, we heard his first request about this 2-3 years ago. That's why he would do whatever it took to play on the same team, he stayed here because he's currently on the Lakers. I think even if his son would be on a different team, he would do whatever he could to join him. The goal will not be to earn money or become a champion, but to become a champion with his son Cheesy

He is already a champion for his son because his son is very proud of him since LeBron is called the King. He may not be the GOAT, but being called King James is huge. There's a lot of respect for him in the NBA, and no son wouldn't be proud of that. I just hope Bronny will be happy playing with the Lakers and won't mind the pressure of bashing left and right. He should be prepared mentally as bashers will not go anywhere.

People are putting way too much pressure on Bronny like he doesn't deserve it. Lets take Lebron out of question first, lets take a look at Bronny who has been drafted, all by himself, does he really not worth an "end of the line" draft pick? I mean this dude has been raised in basketball environment all his life, grew up knowing the game, grew up practicing and training at best possible ways, with doctors, nutritionists, trainers, schools, and everything money can buy all around him, grew up with famous basketball players he can chat and learn their experiences from, and trained everyday of his life.

This draft is probably one of the weakest ones in recent memory, I do not remember any weaker for a long time, so a kid with even zero talent ,but this hard worked, and this lucky to grow up with basketball, being late second round, on a weak draft? I say it wasn't a bad one, I can already see plenty of players drafted before him going to other leagues anyway.

Team USA only beating Australia by 6 points is a little bit surprising. I miss the days when our Olympic team made it obvious that America was a level above everyone else. Hopefully they aren’t in beast mode yet and are saving that for the actual tournament. I’m going to have to watch the highlights and see for myself what sort of effort they’re making.

Well, that's possible and has a point.

So Bronny to remain pickable and signable with contracts from most teams. Given the span of his 4-years contract with the Lakers, he needs to do something and make improvements for that period which I believe is very likely and doable.

However, it won't be surprising if the time comes that he gets traded by the Lakers, it's also one big possibility.

I mean that's true of every person.  They need to get better or they will be out of the league.  Nobody comes in ready made for the most part.  Bronny is just too small I think to overcome his shortcomings.  Someone of his height better be super athletic and talented.  Not saying he isn't good just not nba good.
