He was once a superstar but after all, that faded away.

He's got a nice stint with Spurs and Raptors but being with the Clippers seems like the team has caught a falling knife.

So his contract with the Clippers will be up to 2026-2027, that's a nice paycheck without having much to play at all.  

That's right, Clippers shoulder him and gave him huge contracts but until know he's not bringing anything for the franchise as he keeps resting because of his injury.

They can't force him as there's doctors recommendations and if he needs to rest then he should be resting, like you mentioned he's level of being a star is fading and it's the name that gives clippers some revenue those who still buying his collectibles but NBA wise as a franchise player there's no conversions after he's being acquired.

They have no use of him when he's injured but just some claps and cheer to his teammates.

But once he's healthy again, it's not about how he can contribute but the worries will start of what if he gets injured again.

It's honestly a shame dude would have been a top 5 player in the league if he was healthy.  Was deadly on both ends of the floor.  I always loved he had that mid range jumper that was unstoppable.  He played like the dudes back in the 1990s played, didn't just sit around the 3 point line chucking up random 3s.  I root for the guy but agree, when he is on the floor ypu just wonder when's the next trip to the bench.

Maybe it's time for him to just retire, and it seems that this buyout is already a proof of it. Although as fans we don't what him to retire and wanted to see him play, but teams might not be interested because we all know that after the injury, it was a different Derrick Rose.

Although he tries to revived his career developing his outside shot, teams are not willing to take their chance against the former MVP as he could reinjured himself or he might not contribute at all just like in last playing days with the Grizzlies.

The Clippers have no identity anymore, that's also a problem. If you build around a boring personality like Kawhi and then he doesn't even play it's hard to form anything.
In the past the Clips had some sort of identity, even when they were the "never win Clippers". After that is was "lob city", which was the definitely the high point of the franchise with player like CP3, Blake Griffin and DeAndre Jordan. But now, who actually cares about the Clippers anymore, nobody. They got a shiny new arena, live in a shiny city but there is nothing interesting about them now! 

Well the identity of the city of Los Angeles still belongs to the Lakers. And as much as the Ballmer wanted to change that during the lob city, they can't as they can't win any NBA ring with the prime CP3 and Blake and Jordan, it's like there are still missing pieces. And they try to rebuild, Ballmer throwing a lot of money that time to acquire Kahwi. Unfortunately, it was a different version of Leonard already, as he was not the same anymore.

So even if they got that shiny new arena, and new players, if they are not going to win any, the city will be with the Lakers. They have Lebron, they won a ring in the bubble and they still have the banners along with the championship and retire great players. Clippers can't take that away, and now they've lost Paul George.

He knows already that due to his health status he cannot play more games that's why retirement provably already came out in his mind. This incident where he was been departed from Memphis might provably pull a trigger that he could decide to retire. But many fans asking that Bulls should sign him for last time since its so good to see Rose the youngest MVP in NBA, a past superstar on Bulls will retire on the team where he drafted and experience those best moments of his career.

If Bulls would let that happen then it will be epic and fans provably gonna like to see it to happen in their franchise.

As for the East, Knicks might be the "dark horse" of the East but I'm thinking of who will be their Center if Mitchell Robinson will get injured. They don't have a back-up big because they let Hartenstein walk away, and because of this, I see the Sixers as the top contender in the East aside from the Celtics. Bucks? Nah, just forget about them they're pretty shit in defense and you can't win a title if you're that bad on defense. Will the Celtics make a back-to-back? TBH, they can. I mean the roster's almost the same, and their role players stayed which is a good thing. If there's one hindrance to them, it's injuries, but I think they can do it.

The same as you, I also don't see the Bucks in the picture. Last season was so shitty that I have no interest in watching them play. As for the Celtics getting a back-to-back, they need to be fully healthy to achieve that. That backcourt defense of Jrue and White will be their key especially when playing against the like of the Knicks, like what they did with the Mavs.

I don't know as well, but there's something at the back of my mind telling "there will be a team that might sign him in the future", and TBH, there might be.
I mean who expected Isaiah Thomas being signed by the Hornets and the Suns in the past? Yes it's a short time, but the point is, there's some interest in him still. I believe it's the same with Rose. Injuries really affected his NBA career, but I think he can still play 10 minutes per game, can be a good PG and can lead those youngsters out there. Who knows? We might see him being signed by the Chicago Bulls again. That would be the perfect time to retire as an NBA player.

In addition to "without Robinson", I've seen a Facebook Post (Courtside Buzz) telling that Mitchell Robinson might not be able to play at the start of the 2024-2025 NBA season.

He will be out for the next 2-3 months and in that time span, the Knicks might play at least a quarter of the regular season games already. If the Knicks really want to compete, they need to get a Center or at least a big that would help them defend the paint, and as I'm looking on who's a free agent right now, there's notable name out there unfortunately.

I am with you. This offseason was rather calm, also because there haven't really been big free agents on the market. Sure PG13 is a big name but he slowly is getting old as well.
I really expected some action surrounding Zion or at least Brendan Ingram but somehow the Pelicans decided to stay put. Maybe they will do something in the next trading window, trying to bring up the value a little bit. BI didn't really have a convincing 23/24 season so it can only get better from this point. He has so much talent normally, no clue why he is on a decline.

KD might be a candidate to switch teams for sure, he is always sitting on packed bags, haha. But I doubt Steph or Luka will go anywhere. Since LBJ has Bronny on his side now I also don't see him going away from LA but maybe he chases another ring so that might change his mindset.
About Giannis, there are definitely some rumors at the moment, especially GSW and Dallas are very interested to land him but what can they actually offer for him?? I don't see any trade scenario there.

I feel like while Clippers is not trying to piss Kawhi off while he is still on the team, I am pretty sure that he is probably not going to end up with getting any love from them when the contract ends either. Dude missed so many games and Clippers will want to either trade him away, or just not sign him back, because that's a ton of money on their cap space that is going to waste right now.

They have been trying to win something with him, but they failed so far and I think it's clear that we are not going to see them do that well this season neither, they are losing players to other teams and Kawhi could leave too and then they could rebuild. While it is not ideal to keep rebuilding, they definitely do not have a chance to win anything with their current roster.

Clippers put so much effort into Kawhi but it didn't come to any wins at all, Lakers must be feeling quite happy that their deal was rejected, if they got him, they would have to lose every other good player and just be Kawhi and Lebron and AD and just 9 other minimum contracts that's it, which wouldn't have won anything. Now they have a few other decent players, not like they are doing great now, but at least they won a title and Clippers didn't.

That seems to be where this is going for his team. I just wish that the Bull are still going to honor him and will give him even a year or two contract even for low amount.

That's probably a good choice for him if he's given that opportunity. To retire to the team that he beloved the most.

I mean Kawhi could definitely play like 50 games a season to not have a too much load on his body and the team would be fine with it. You have to be an incredible star to convince the team to play only 50 games and they are still willing to pay you the max and keep you happy. I think it's clear that we are going to see this not changing anytime soon neither. If his injuries still keeps going then I am guessing that he is going to end up with a lot more earlier retirement than we thought he would have, and that is not going to be easy at all because everyone likes him too, aside from maybe Spurs fans.

Having early career ending injuries is something NBA fans know all too well, many players had that, and Kawhi could have retired already considering how he has been, but he decided to stay and basically get paid to be injured and play a few games time to time, and as long as teams are willing to pay for it, then why wouldn't he take the money anyway?
