The NBA is really starting to get ridiculous. I don't know how right it is to pay these players this much money, but I don't think there is anything more ridiculous than these players making this much money.
The old players would definitely want to play now, if Stephen Curry was playing in this era, he would probably sign a contract for $500 million or more.

Rockets got Kevin Durant and Clint Capela. They built an ambitious roster for this season.

Clearly Rockets wants an immediate result this season after experiencing early exit on Playoffs while they have a strong roster composition.

They saw the potential for Sengun to become a power forward that’s why they added another good center with Clint Capela and Durant as alternative PF/SF role that is much better role shift in exchange for trading Brooks and Green that is inconsistent on their games.

I think Rockets is scary team this season especially that they will have a lot of prep time for the playoffs since the trade happened before the season the started.

What's even scarier is the injury history of these players. All three Durant, Capela and Sengun suffered injuries last season. Although none of them were too serious injury, it will still affect how many games they can play this season.

I know Green and Dillon weren't the most consistent players, but I'd say they were part of the reason why the Rockets had decent run in the regular season last year. I don't see that happening again with this current lineup.

Just look at what happened to the Phoenix Suns after acquiring Kevin Durant. They became worse team and didn't even make it to the playoffs not even the play-in tournament. lol

But after that, it didn't last long and the talks and attention went through the trades that are happening now.

I totally agree with you on that.... Banchero isn’t a flashy player, but he’s consistent and that’s what really matters in the long run.

Give him a few more seasons and more experience, and this team could easily become a championship contender. They’ve got a young core, but there’s enough talent to compete, what they need now is playoff experience and consistency when it matters most.

I also get why he secured a supermax contract -  he earned it.
And with his style of play, he’s less likely to suffer serious injuries, which makes the investment even more solid.

I don’t know if 60 million a year is reasonable for anyone who isn’t a household name, regardless of how good they are. I think it’s a larger problem though. Before it was players like Jordan and Shaq who were going to be billionaires. I bet there are probably 20 guys playing now who will be billionaires, and more than half of them probably couldn’t be recognized by a normal person on the street.

To be fair with Paolo, he is their franchise player that's why he was offered this big money. So they just wanted to have him back in Orlando and hoping that when he is healthy and Wagner as well, they can make a deep run in the playoffs.

Yes, they could have a problem with their salary cap that's for sure, and so they will have to move pieces as well in the future. And just like any other teams, they are willing to gamble with Paolo and if it didn't pan out then they will have to go back again and rebuild just like any other team. And if you notice, teams are willing to do that, gamble a lot and then just hope that something good is going to happen to them.

Take Luka’s situation for example. When he was traded, some fans weren’t happy at all. Many stopped watching the games, and to make things worse, Dallas didn’t even make the playoffs. Teams don’t want that kind of backlash. That’s why they had to lock in Banchero with a max deal. If they didn’t, another team would’ve grabbed him, and that could hurt their fan base and overall market value.

It’s the same logic behind why SGA got a massive contract too, these players are not just key pieces on the court, they’re also part of the team’s identity and business model.

Its good steal for Banchero itself but for Magic? their future is uncertain especially that the player they give a huge contract doesn't prove anything yet.

Crazy that they give such huge contract while they can use their resources to acquire more quality players that can help their team. But guess I think Magic just want to secure him and it seems they don't care about the future implication of the decision they made.

The events that happen during the season attract more attention than the championship, people love gossip. The NBA is no longer like it used to be, no one talks about the team that won the championship for months. A few years ago, the team that won the championship would stay on the agenda for months, everyone walking on the street would know who was the champion. This has not happened in recent years, in previous years if you asked who was the champion, everyone would look up the results on the internet and answer accordingly.

In fact, if I remember correctly, Durant was given a huge deal by the Nets even though he missed an entire season. So if we’re looking at this from a gambling perspective, it’s definitely a high-risk move. But the difference here is that Banchero is still young and not injury-prone, so in my opinion, it’s a gamble worth taking.

Although that 287M for 5 years is overkill for a rookie contract I do agree with you that he deserves it. Magic becomes relevant even though they only have young player and some veteran player that has low salary.

You meant inconsistent right? Because Rockets will advance on the playoffs if Green is consistent on their game against GSW since they already have a very solid Center and PF.

I think this is the main reason why Rockets traded him away since they saw that Green is always performing like this whenever they have the chance to go on playoffs.

I agree about Jalen Green's playoffs performance. He was simply terrible. Only in 1 game he looked impressive and that was all. Maybe he isn't the man for the highest stage or it is just because of his still being young.

In this trade between Suns and Rockets I just believe that Rockets is in profit. Getting Kevin Durant is worth it. Maybe he is 36 years old but still can play as a superstar. Logical trade to play bigger for an NBA championship in my opinion.

Booker's contract is still acceptable, at least he delivers on the court. The Suns actually need to get rid of Bradley Beal and his absurd contract. If they can trade him as well now that Durant is gone, they could create some space in the salary cap. That way, they could rebuild the team around Booker. They don't have an easy job either way, though. There are so many good teams and they don't have much chance to compete.
