Golden State Warriors and Jonathan Kuminga finally reached 2 years 48 million dollars contract extension agreement after going back and forth all summer not willing to give in to each other demands, both parties have found a common ground, even though this could all be a temporary agreement for a potential mid-season trade for the Warriors.
---
It's a win-win situation for both Kuminga and the Warriors.

For the side of the Warriors, they can just trade him anytime just in case he plays awful in this regular season. That team-option on the final year of the contract is a big leverage for the Warriors as well so that in case he plays awful during the playoffs (assuming that they clinch the playoffs), the team can just decline on that final year putting him to free agency next season.

Now for the side of Kuminga, if he didn't agreed to this contract, he will only be getting $8M qualifying offer this season so at least he got an extra $14M as well. Aside from that, I can't see any more benefit from him.

The only bad thing here is Kuminga will have limited minutes and because of that, he will have limited development as well. I wonder how he will be playing under Coach Kerr's system knowing that he doesn't fit the system of the Warriors... or at least that's what we saw last season.

Last season, Spurs listed Wembanyama as 2.21 meters tall, but this year he's listed as 2.24 meters tall. I saw this information online.
Could this be true?
Is it biologically possible for someone this age to grow taller?
Or was the measurement taken incorrectly last year?

Which teams do you think will stand out this season? In recent years we have seen different champions. Will a new champion emerge this season? Is there a team that you see as the frontrunner?
I think Thunder was still a favorite here, for the last 7 years we have different teams named Champions, I think these season it's like a new one will emerge but I think Thunder has chance to make a back-to-back one, just a wild guess here.

Current odds are in favor with OKC https://www.sportsbookreview.com/picks/nba/finals-odds/ and it seems that many people still believe that they could able to have back to back championship this season.

But I think it became more challenging for them to hit that target knowing that lots of team made a major upgrade on their rosters.

Seems everything is unpredictable now and that makes NBA exciting since I guess the level of competitiveness would became different compare to what we have seen last season.

Not sure about that. If LeBron plays with the Warriors, that means he’d have to be the main man, because I’ve never seen LeBron play on a team where he’s just a secondary option. And honestly, I don’t think it will happen anyway, because as you said, it would cost the Warriors a lot. Jimmy and other players would probably have to be traded just to make room for LeBron.

LeBron hasn’t even proven that a team improves just by trading for Luka, so he’d have to prove it first. Otherwise, it’s not safe to assume the Warriors would get better with LeBron on the roster. Personally, what I’d like to see is them competing against each other as future Hall of Famers. A real star doesn’t need to pair with another star just to win a ring.

Well, assuming that the Warriors' management will need to trade Butler in order to get LeBron James, then it makes sense. At least if you look at last season's statistics, you can notice that the 40-year-old LeBron performed significantly better than Butler.

No matter how good or bad a team is, they can make the playoffs if they fight hard enough. There are way too many teams that are tanking already, so for the 10th spot, you are only fighting a few teams that's it, and then you need win only few more games and you are in playoffs. When you consider that, you can realize why some teams can make it to playoffs without being any good at all.

We are going to see things change, and should not be all that good and Clippers with or without Kawhi will end up being terrible. Warriors on the other hand are building a decent team, I am pretty sure if they keep this up, they may run for another title, which would be fully unexpected considering they are much older right now.

Surely if they are in the east they can make it, but if they are in the west, it will be hard, west is where the best teams are, east currently don't have a team, its a bit imbalance, i hope star players in the next draft want to be in the east but of course they want to win a championship and that's the goal of every player, so we can't blame them for their decision, what do you think?
Can the east be a contender again for a championship or they will be a food of the west teams in the finals.

Two things about this, first of all yeah that could happen, either is possible. He could have grown just three centimetres longer, that's not really that much when you are that height, yes when you are at my height that would be a lot lol, but that's a tiny amount compared to his height, so that is possible, but this year it could be just fixing a wrong measurement as well, or maybe combination of both.

However, the other thing to talk about is that this dude had what made Chris Bosh retire, so I am not sure if his height even matters anymore, he could be six foot tall and with his medial issue, it is not going to matter. If he keeps having the same issue then we are going to lose a generational talent and that is going to be sad.

I've just seen this on the X page of LA Clippers and Kawhi is on the list which means that he's not yet traded or we don't know what actually is happening or if he's going to stay there. Although this is just a camp, the trade deadline is until February 6 based on NBA's website, correct me if I'm wrong with that and there are still a lot that can happen with Kawhi and the LA Clippers, right?
I mean it is obvious that he is not going to stay with the team for long, but that also doesn't mean that he shouldn't trade with them neither. We should be able to see them do a fine job and just keep going with whatever they have and shouldn't be really kicking him out.

I understand that it is not going to eb great for him to be left out, so they just added him in but will either trade him anyways or will just say he is injured or something. Basically nothing will change and we are going to see Kawhi leave one day. Will it be soon? Will it be November or something? We have no idea anything could happen, they are not going to give him up for free but I am certain about his pending trade, he is going to go to another team.
I guess if there is no taker for him then no trade offers will be made, the Clippers has no choice but to take care of him until the end of his contract. He might be a good addition to any team that needs his service but, they also don't want to take the controversy that he's in. I guess that it's no longer an issue today but the trade deadline is still going to be for long so, there could be a lot of things that can still happen and we'll never know if by any chance that we'd be surprise by some trade announcements for Kawhi.

I just noticed the thread title update. Let’s go! 2026 season is right around the corner. LeBron is resting already.

3 more weeks and then we can see the Los Angeles Lakers face off against the Golden State Warriors. I can’t wait. Horford and Ayton will be a good matchup and we’ll get to see Skinny Luka.

Could this be the season for the spurs? spurs are slowly building a team, when you check their lineup with Wembi, they are the like a sleeping giant, if wembi will not encounter any issue, he could be unstoppable, they can be also in the playoffs and could matchup with OKC,  although he is still young he's experience playing, is notable with other players experience in the playoff, will fuel the team, that are compose rookies and experience player, they have the recipe to stop other teams i think.

Anthony Davis packed on an extra 15 pounds this offseason to become the heaviest player in the NBA now. He looked pretty big on the court before, so I’m sure he will be a powerhouse out there now. Not quite Shaquille O’Neal territory but in today’s NBA I think he will stand out as significantly bigger than everyone else.

Hmm, I wonder how Nico Harrison will think about that.  Roll Eyes Didn't he trade Luka because he was not taking care of his body and always showed up "too fat" after the summer, hahaha. Maybe Nico is already cooking up something and wants to trade AD to let's say Philadelphia or the Clippers. There is always room for a washed up Paul George or Kawhi.  Grin

Yeah. I just noticed it too. Nice. Good thing OP is still active and well. Thank you, OP.

3 weeks. That will be fast. I cannot wait for the 2026 Tip-Off. There aren't any changes in the rule book. So I am guessing they are satisfied with what happened last year.

The last change was the "Heave Rule". It's not actually a game-changing rule. It's an individual stat change. It's when the official time is expiring, the player who heaves the ball from the halfcourt will not have a missed shot in his stats. It will be a team stat, missed or shot.
We all know that players who want to keep their stats up, especially in shooting percentage, will not do it. But with that rule, they can go wild and throw it for a miracle. Cheesy

I think that was his excuse but when it came down to it, it was a business decision. They didn’t want to give Luka the supermax contract he earned and instead chose to deal him to a team that will have the money to pay him in the future. Luka using that to fuel a massive body change is probably great for his career.

For those who want to see how a +15 lbs look to AD,

https://x.com/dallasmavs/status/1973185881466085422

But I would agree with the comparison on Shaq, that is the version of Shaq in the Orlando Magic uniform. But he could not be a powerful as the Shaq in the Lakers. It was a different specimen back then, as no one can stop Shaq because he was complete, with speed and the power that no one can take him one on one. As for Davis, this added muscle might help him to at least stay strong and not be as fragile as before.

I think so as well. If not for his max contract, they wouldn’t trade him. Also, since they know they’re getting Cooper Flagg, they might as well trade him. They saved and made their lineup stronger. AD has defense and can contribute offensively as well. Hopefully, he stays healthy. Actually, I didn’t get it either when they traded Luka, but looking back, smart move. Luka is an example that players should also treat the organization as a business, because at the end of the day, it is business for them.

Maybe, we really don't know what Nico Harrison was thinking when he traded Luka. Maybe he had a lot leverage now having AD and there could be teams that is willing to go after him as AD is still one of the best PF and defensive players around.

At least he stil has some aces down his sleeves even though he doesn't have Luka anymore. And now that he have Cooper Flag, they could developed him to be the next franchise player and he could be a generational talent.

Well, 15 pounds isn't that much weight to negatively affect the knees, especially if it's just muscle mass. In AD's case, it might even be beneficial, as the extra muscle will stabilize the joints and improve load distribution. Therefore, AD could potentially become less injury-prone.

Base on the article I read those additional pounds he gain is large lean muscle and not fats. This is good for his durability and provably that he can absorb more contact due to those developments happening in his body.

Here read this guys https://www.sportingnews.com/us/nba/dallas-mavericks/news/anthony-davis-weight-gain-concern-mavericks-not-really/7e76c6080505a75af5d74e9d

Davis might perform more better next season. So let see if Davis would really be more healthier and could last for many games this season.
