I watched Nurkic video and damn I fell in my seat.

That was really horrible and later I will pray deeply for his fast recovery. That was worse than what happened with PG13.
I hope he doesnt stop playing after the recovery.

It was definitely one of the worst injuries in the NBA and man, it hurts you only if you watch it. This is surely affect his NBA career a lot and it will take a very long time until he will be able to play again. Even if we will be able to play again in the NBA he will never be the same player he was this season.

It's official, he is out for the remainder of the season, but look at them now, they are still good, they are dominating the Bulls in today's game.
The problem they will face is when they will be in the playoffs, sure it would be hard for them to win, and I'm betting against them even if they have the home court advantage.
They needed to make proper adjustment as they have to face much bigger and opponents coming this playoff series, that injury really hurt them inside, they will need more from their interior defense though they have a big front side and can attack anytime, this young guns still there to hunt the finals
chances, with team effort and continuously playing as whole even they lose Nurkic they can still competitive.

100% it's not an career ending injury. As far as the latest update is concern, no nerve or muscle damage in his leg was found during the surgery. Meaning it can't be compared to Gordon Hayward and Paul George's injuries although all of them are really gruesome.

My concern here is once he came back, how long before he gain his confidence again. Paul George took a season long before he came back to his usual playstyle. Hayward on the other hand, looks like currently still in effect of that injury that although he was healthy his mindset telling him not.

Anyways, Nurkic is playing good at defense and that kind of athleticism is needed in their upcoming playoffs run. Blazers I think are more motivated now although there are gaps to be filled in to cover Nurkic loss.

I don't think focusing on first round is the best way to win a championship. By logic you should be capable of beating any of the other 7 teams if possible and you should not be afraid of facing any of them. Do you really think warriors would be scared to face against rockets this year ?

Even though they had trouble last year ? No, I do not think so, they believe in their chances. If you are preferring clippers over jazz and focus on that than you might as well not even go to playoffs because you may beat clippers and you may beat jazz too but at the end if that is the level of difference you feel comfortable with than you will be gone in the second round anyway.

You have to believe there is a chance you can beat anyone you face, after all its not regular season and you have 7 chances to get 4 wins, if you play properly just for 4 games than you beat anyone. Best of an 8th seed is better than a worst of a first seed in my opinion.

Whoever taught George Hill and Bledsoe on how to defend Harden is a wise man.

Prevent the three's. Keep defending the left side of him to prevent him from shooting outside. Force him to the right and let him do a floater for a 2 point which could also miss or pass the ball to Capella. (if he cannot pass it to Capella, 50% chance for a steal) happened a lot of times.

Trust the big man to do his job. (center)
Just do not give him space to make a three point shot.

2 things happened.
Bledsoe forgot to defend Harden on the left side. He stayed in front and so Harden made a three.
Hill stayed on the left side, Harden forced a three and it was an air ball.

Hail to the defensive brain of the Bucks.
Also for Hill for not forgetting the strategy in every play.

If you would go around Youtube, you will see Scottie Pippen, being asked how he will defend James Harden, he said exactly like what we have witnessed in that game, cut his left, force him to go right double-team him and force him to pass or shoot the ball, chances are he might miss a few or the pass can be stolen, simply as that. Scottie is a first-defensive-team, 8 times and 2 second-defensive-team 2 times. So he really know how to play defense here. Maybe the Bucks defensive team have seen that interview and put it into play when they face Houston yesterday and it was very effective indeed.

Harden is exposed and we can see that in every playoffs game.
He can get his usual scoring but the FG percentage will eventually drop, they need to adjust this time around, and Harden being
a real superstar, needs to trust his teammate. I can say that he is lucky to have Paul with him, if not, they will not reach in the Finals (west)
This time around, let's see what they got. Really excited for the playoffs to commence.

And that is one problem with the play of Mike D'Antoni.
He will force the issue that Harden needs to make his own play.
He might be the best offensive coach but he had his weaknesses too and that is one of it.

If this keeps up, Capela will need to get stronger. He needs more coaching from whoever is behind the management that trains him.
Also, one factor is he cannot be injured again.
Chris Paul cannot play the whole game too, he had some histories with playing too much.

What will James Harden do with him being exposed like this.
It aint like the Phoenix Suns of Steve Nash. Steve have some good passing skills.

Well that depends on Nurkic on how he'll face this obstacle in his career. Given that the org will definitely give him all the medical support, rehab and everything plus the advancement of the program of a such injury would give him boost. PGs injury is way worse than him, but look at him he's still dominating. Basketball is also considered a mind game, Nurkic just need to overcome the fear that he might acquired after that.

I agree with you, PG was a good example and every player who suffered injury should make him as their inspiration.
If they will put their passion in basketball, they will do things to recover and be back in the game, Nurkic is still young so he still has a chance to be healthy again.

Right, I guess players like who went into this kind of gruesome injury should also go to psychologist and help the players to recover their mind and attitude.

We have seen players able to come back from worst injury and play like PG but there are players who can't maybe because of the big mental barriers they can't overcome and they are not the same self after that injury.

The healing technology now is more advance, so he could come back as normal.
When we say out for the remainder of the season, that is huge, and it could be yourself is your biggest enemy when you come back.
This season, we have 2 good players who got serious injury, IIRC, we also have Victor Oladipo, and this one is the latest.

This was mentioned by one analyst in the NBA that the technology right now is more advance unlike in the past, injury could take a lot of months.

When we say out for the remainder of the season, that is huge, and it could be yourself is your biggest enemy when you come back.
Well, you haven't consider the essence of "out for a season." How many days does a season occur? That's almost 200+ days.

The enemy will be always you. Of course, you might be putting in your mind that "what if I got that injury again?" Look at DRose, when he always having good games, that's when he's having injury. So they need to consult into psychologist.

This season, we have 2 good players who got serious injury, IIRC, we also have Victor Oladipo, and this one is the latest.
Let's hope that no players will be added in that list.

What puzzled me was the injury of Giannis in the last match.
They say that his ankle is not heavy injured but he will recover soon. Actually he is going to lose 3-4 matches and then he will be back again. I don't want to see his performance dropping due to this injury and I expect him to be back stronger for the play-offs.

Though is not the same injury but look how oladipo trying to recover from his own case, and how those previous players like PG and HAyward able to
comeback and still healthy enjoying the league, if he will mentally willing to comeback with the help of those new innovated technology he can manage to do so, he's still young and there's still  lots of things to happen with his career.

The mental part of coming back is a lot bigger than the physical part. Gordon Hayward has been back for almost a whole season now and he hasn't managed to really pick up his game back to his normal ways, he used to be one of the most athletic white guys in the league and now he relies on his shooting a lot, because he is shooting so much people started to guard him closer and since he doesn't really just blow by them and dunks anymore they know it will work.

Nurkic could return back 100% ready with his injury and his foot and leg will be fully healed but knowing that at ANY moment you can break your leg in half doesn't leave your mind that easily, its going to be very though to come back mentally from it. Kevin Ware comes to mind, he wasn't really an amazing player but he was decent and after the injury he just basically stopped playing all together after a bit more tries but never really going back to his old ways.

... and how those previous players like PG and HAyward able to
comeback and still healthy enjoying the league, if he will mentally willing to comeback with the help of those new innovated technology he can manage to do so, he's still young and there's still  lots of things to happen with his career.

Hayward is still not the Hayward back then. I believed he is still dealing with his "mental" part which is usual. And like I posted here recently, Paul George took one season to get back on his shape (or maybe because no Melo curse now on OKC lol) and we already seen him putting up big numbers in most of their games.

Pointing to Jurkic, the most important thing for now is the recovery. Dealing with his mentality will start once he came back on the live court so better just wait for it.

Going to San Antonio Spurs, Manu Ginobilli really not expecting a moment where his jersey number will be retired at the famous AT&T Center. That was a great experience and a honor.

Congrats Manu. You deserved it. NBA fans will not forget you.

I have been with injuries too and I can say that mental problem is real base on experience.
It is hard to run now coz I am still thinking of my knees once I start the jog.
I cannot even sprint without thinking about it. Once I do sprint I run like an idiot with the injury still intact.
That is how mental issues really hurt this players. They are still thinking that it can happen anytime. Those must be erased.

Ohhhh. What a lovely quote from Pops and it will be remembered too.
Who would really expect it? He is the 6th man of the team from the start and until the end.
But without him San Antonio wont be remembered also. Hell, even Duncan cannot create history without him, and so does Parker.
How I miss watching Manu play.
Although I am loving the unusual moves of Belinelli, it is still way different with Manu around.

Enough for Nurkic discussion.

Let's discuss the Bucks vs the Rockets game, it ended up a win for the home team, bucks beating the Rockets (108-94)
and although Harden had a double double tonight but he did not score 30+ points, and we know what will happen if their main scoring machine is limited with that score only. Harden is consistent scoring 30+ points every game but got limited tonight, the defense of the Bucks are making it possible.
Bucks had a great game on that. I watched them defended the rockets pretty good. And the best part is neutralizing James Harden, the scoring machine of the team. I hope that they can expose rockets by this type of defense. Well, bucks is the eastern team I'm rooting for.
Would you look at that? I am right. Here is a video showing that Bucks exposed rockets by the defense they played.  Here is the youtube video by Heat Check https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C_LO8qFEFMM

The nuggets have fell off the wagon and do not look like they will be any good in the playoffs. Jovic looks like a joke out there and where is murray with those three point sinkers in the final minutes of the game?
There last two games they failed to score more than 100 points in a game. They cant blame it on making it through to just stroll past in the regular season. Very disappointing for their home fans to see them in their next game. Undecided

Pop said that "Without Manu, there would be no championships." Well said by pop and this one is very true.

I just finished watching Manu's jersey retirement ceremony. If you missed it like me last night, NBA has it uploaded to their Youtube channel - here.

He was such a creative/unique player to watch, highly competitive dude with tremendous accomplishments throughout his career. Just to list a few of them: 4x Nba Champ, Euro League Champ and probably most important/memorable one is the Olympic gold in Athens vs. team USA.

Last night's ceremony is/was a well-deserved moment for him, his family and for all of the San Antonio Spurs fans.

No worries. We can't just judged a team based on their recent performance.

Once season ends, it will be 0-0 at the start of playffs. From there, a team will be matched on a "same team" for a minimum of 4 consecutive games at the first round.

Again, "against the same team" in 4 or more consecutive games. It does mean that, their performance in season games will surely be changed once playoffs come since they don't have to adjust for every different teams like what they are doing during season games.
