Price is holding strong. Someone just took another dump and it's recovering again. Seems like this uptrend is pretty solid. I wouldn't be surprised if we see 330 before November. I will keep monitoring Bitcoinwisdom while I hold.

There is no such thing as a safe online wallet. If you do not have physical possession of the private keys for your bitcoin addresses you are at risk. When you have bitcoin in Coinbase or such you actually have an IOU. Wallets on your computer are better, but even with password protection many have lost bitcoin to theft by trojans. You can keep your private keys offline but still make transactions easily if you use a Ledger ($40) or Trezor ($99) hardware wallet. Anyone can afford $40 for a Ledger, so quit screwing around with unsafe alternatives and get a bitcoin hardware wallet.

I do not have much more than one BTC, but somehow I feel safer having it on coinbase than locally on my pc. My pc can be screwed. You say "do backups", but the backup may get stolen, you can apply many other security measures, but that makes holding your BTC rather messy and uncomfortable.

I would go through all that pain if I held 10 BTC perhaps, but not now... for the time being.

Yes saw that stall an hour ago too but it rallies back past the $317 mark.
Amazing stuff now!

I do too and they don't charge any transaction fees which is always a good thing with smaller transactions.
Usually they cost more than the outgoing bits.

I kinda agree with you here, but it also depends on how much 1 btc  is worth to you. If you can live a month of off it in your country, I wouldn't be so comfortable as if it is only a fraction of the normal living costs.

It isn't too much effort to make multiple backups right? Also, physically stolen back-ups are not really that common I guess, as long as you don't tell everybody that you are storing bitcoins at home.

No problem dude. As long as you know that this money can be lost at any time and you could afford the loss, it's truly a non issue. Couldn't hurt to do a little research though, look up "bitcoinica cluster fuck" for example, or look what happened to many big exchanges MtGox, Bitmarket.eu, Vircurex... Let this be told to you by someone having lost 44+ Bitcoins to an exchange when they were worth less together than a single Bitcoin today. Or look at it this way....you may lose your one bitcoin today to an "unfortunate hack" or an actual hack at coinbase. In 2022 you will look back and one Bitcoin is worth 45.000 Dollars. No biggie!

What a beautiful feeling, it feels like you are a kid on xmas again. What better present than an uptrend to end the year? finally something to celebrate on xmas eve. I hope we can be at 400's when we are counting down the hours for January 1.

I don't own much of them (which I plan to sell them as soon as the price takes off (about $10.000 Tongue). I store them in Blockchain since it has 2FA. I guess it is pretty secure.
I would like that local wallets could have 2FA as well.

No, it is not safe, i had blockchain wallet with 2fa enabled and still someone managed to breach the security and took all of my coins in a seconds Sad

If you want to keep using online wallet, go to somewhere more competent and capable of securing your coins Wink

Yes only the wallets within our control and no access to anybody would be the most secured wallet. We can not these two things get ensured along with online wallets. Even if prefer keeping funds in online wallet, store the private-key in your local.

I think at the end of every year there is a massive pump and then when the year starts there is a big dump.
Except last year the pump never happened but the dump did.
I think this is a yearly or bi yearly cycle.

I think, yes, the halving is effecting the price, and right now the price ($332) is not as high as it should be ($500) in several months. But if we have say $800 in December then we can talk about cycles mentioned above, then, yes, it is a pump ($800 per BTC) and the dump (to $450, or even to $350) will follow.

You might want to tell Electrum that, they seem to think they have 2FA using Google Authenticator...
