What makes people so addicted to gambling?
Do you know anyone who is heavily into gambling?
i am Curious to know the different views about this above questions
People are getting addicted towards gambling in the hope of winning some big amount, some people also play because they think that its a short cut to make the money and get rich quickly.
I think its the mid-set of the people that makes them addicted to gambling.Maybe at times its the social conditions but most of the time I think its urge to earn more money in less time.
Several users here have mentioned money as an incentive, or rather, even the objective for gamblers - and at a glance, this might seem true.
But, imagine an Utopian society, where money is no longer in use, your basic needs are all taken care of, and any additional material interests can just be printed in the nearest 3D printer (lets assume, for the sake of argument, this is all possible, for everyone, with no constraints on energy / resources / whatever); my question is: would gambling, and more generally, risk taking behavior, disappear? Or would it just take other forms, now that you can gain no material advantage from it?
I'd bet on the latter - perhaps the origin of this behavior is rooted in a time where scarcity was far more prevalent than it is today, and so, risk taking was far more rewarding (and widespread), but then, I guess this also means that it goes beyond any material gains one can get (at least, for those of us alive today).
