Hey crypto currency freaks,

in order to increase the stability and diversification of the public 611 (SixEleven) DNS service, I would suggest adding additional second level domains providing the public 611 (SixEleven) blockchain information via dns.  Cool

Call for discussion
In addition to 611.to do you think we should register additional second level domains to provide the blockchain information using additional content delivery resources?

Should we start fundraising for buying special (ultra short) domain ressources?

LIMITED FREE COINS
Furthermore I'm offering free 10 SIL coins on a limited (first come first serve availability) basis once to any bitcointalk.org user. These coins are fresh merge-mined using http://p2pool.611.to. To claim just write me a PM with your SIL address.

Have fun and take care,
-Patrick

Bitcoin mining is now a specialized and very risky industry, just like gold mining. Amateur miners are unlikely to make much money, and may even lose money. Bitcoin is much more than just mining, though!

and can we finally go to some exchange or whats the plan now?!
Can you recommend an exchange supporting altcoins?
The majority of exchanges out there seem to focus on BTC only Huh
Sure. Ie C-CEX

UPDATE: You can vote or donate for SixEleven on C-CEX since yesterday.

... ie Yobit takes coins who give them coins to giveaway free.

notsofast is in contact with Yobit. As soon as Yobit is going to add 611 (SixEleven) to the list of tradable coins I'm going to generate Yobicodes to distribute some SIL for free to make it easier for newbies to play with or to use the dns cloud features of 611.

=> Meanwhile no one has to wait to use 611. Any user of this forum can claim some SIL for free. Just write me a PM. Smiley

Warning:
About two weeks ago, Beff decided to give an aggressive vps pricing deal a try and moved the Block Explorer and P2Pool mining pool to Ixam Hosting which is now HostSlick.

BEWARE OF Ixam Hosting / HostSlick! Within the two weeks the vps has been down for about a week, now. First event caused by a claimed node failure for about a day. Since three days the vps is down once more, because the hoster claims that running bitcoind on a vps is a fraud usage Huh

Can you recommend a reliable and affordable hoster respecting customer privacy which is suitable for running a full bitcoind and 611d node?

==> Meanwhile if you can, please support 611 (SixEleven) by sharing your (sha256 merge-mining) hash power with us.

UPDATE:
Due to feedback of the Linux user base, fflo has updated the 611 (SixEleven) source code on GitHub, in detail:  Cheesy
  • remove dependency for gthread-2.0 on linux
  • contrib: build static with db48 auto-make-script (to make wallet.dat files compatible on different linux OS)
  • documentation: update build-linux.txt
  • design: update DESIGN description

To pull the latest source code run "git pull" in your sixeleven src directory. Please backup your ~/.611/wallet.dat (and/or other .dat files) and then recompile and reinstall the code.

TODO:
Please post your questions or recommendations for the outdated FAQ section.

NEW FEATURE: 611 (SixEleven) has support for Docker, now.  Cool

Docker is an open platform for distributed applications for developers and sysadmins. It allows you to run your applications in a standarized environment (containers) with a single command:
Code:
docker run [...]

To install and run your local 611 (SixEleven) node, install the latest version of Docker (Quick Start: Linux, Mac or Windows) and run the following commands:
Code:
$ docker create -v /sixeleven --name sixeleven-data busybox /bin/true
$ docker run --volumes-from=sixeleven-data --name=sixeleven-node -d -p 8661:8661 -p 127.0.0.1:8663:8663 fflo/sixeleven

That's it. You're ready to go!  Cheesy

This is an interesting Coin. Is it still Solo mineable?

Sure. And it's quite simple. Cheesy

To solo mine connect your miner(s) directly to the 611d rpc port 8663 with your rpc username and password (it's defined in the 611.conf configuration file). That's it. You're ready to go.

If you like to optimize your mining profit of 611 (SixEleven), I can recommend you to take a look at the following open source project: P2Pool
P2Pool allows you to merge-mine 611 (SixEleven) together with Bitcoin at no additional cost. So you have both profit Grin

Running a local copy of P2Pool allows you to mine BTC blocks together with other miners within a large peer to peer network, so your BTC mining revenue should be roughly the same like mining using other Bitcoin pools.

In order to merge-mine using P2Pool you have to install, setup and run the current blockchains of Bitcoin and 611 (SixEleven) (and optional: any other altcoin supporting merged mining) and the P2Pool software.

In case all desired coin daemons are running, tryout the following command to setup your own P2Pool:
Code:
~/p2pool/run_p2pool.py --give-author 0.5 bitcoinrpc YourBitcoinRpcPass --merged http://sixelevenrpc:Your611RpcPass@127.0.0.1:8663 -f 0 --max-conns 22 --outgoing-conns 11 --debug

Wait a few minutes allowing P2Pool to synchronize with the other network nodes and then point your stratum compatible miners to the tcp port 9332; username is any valid bitcoin address; password does not matter - like:
Code:
./cudaminer -o stratum+tcp://MyIpAddress:9332 -O 15...:thisisnopass

Using the default configuration parameters, mining profits should go to your username bitcoin address and the local 611 wallet. Cool

Please share your results or let us know if you need any help with the setup...

Is anyone using Poloniex Exchange? Seems to run stable with an active trading user base.
