MoneyGram’s Peter Ohser Feels Bitcoin Technology is “Misguiding” Consumers

Bitcoin is poised to disrupt the financial sector, and money remittance services will be among the first to feel the wrath of borderless digital currencies.   Servers like Western Union and MoneyGram are the top contenders in the remittance sector, yet that paradigm might be about to shift sooner rather than later.  That being said, MoneyGram isn’t feeling the pressure just yet.

In this article, there is no description why bitcoin technology is misguiding. Bitcoin will render those remittance company obsolete if they do not adept.

Consumers take the associated costs for granted without giving it a second, though.

Only reason why is because most consumers are just to lazy to look for alternatives. Those who do manage to find those cheaper and better alternatives like for example bitcoin. So MoneyGrams only saving grace thus far is the fact that bitcoin is not yet adopted into the mainstream. They have for a fact lost business due to bitcoin as I no longer make use of them since becoming involved with bitcoin.

“Payments are already digital and real time.  I can send cash using the existing rails.  It’s there, and it’s real.  [Digital currency] is not solving a problem … There’s also a trust factor.  People trust paper more than they trust data, and that behaviour is not going to change.” – Peter Ohser of MoneyGram continued.

He sounds like the guy who said that he cannot see why a personal computer will ever be needed in every household.

I think they have, Moneygram are invested in one of the big Bitcoin companies IIRC. I'll try to find where I read it for the details.
