EDIT: See https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1239112.msg12952295#msg12952295

2 2 2 3 2 2 4 2 3

What's the next number, and why?

Hint: The next number finishes this first sequence, with the second sequence starting with the number 7, in which there are ONLY 35 sequences in total, with the last number of the last sequence being a 10.

2 2 2 3 2 2 4 2 3

What's the next number, and why?

The pattern is obviously three numbers long, but it is not long enough for me to determine the next set.

I would guess at 5 2 3

First number increments by 1 every time
Second number is always 2
Third number increments by 1 every second time

LMAO! I stumped the Vod. Nope, it's a single number between 1 and 100, inclusive.

Once you guys give up, I'll give the number with the new challenge being how it was derived, predicated on 6 users stating that they give up.

caeser cypher of some kind ?

Such as Value Village puts a wax pen mark code on the bottom of furniture items.
Goes like this..

BIGVALUES
012345678

So an item $12 would be code 'IG'

It's how they catch people at the till ripping off tags or swapping tags at the till when paying.
But smart people will use a pencil eraser to delete the wax pen code and write in a new one..
THEN go to the till with the tag torn off.
The employee will flip the thing over and look on the bottom for the code and ring it up LOL

I think it was the Swedish who broke Nazi Germany's secret cypher code and handed it over to the allies..
This in turn left their entire sub fleet sitting ducks and helped with the downfall of the Nazi sea fleet.

..an old concept

And that is after all what encryption is all about.
people here should all know that
..or what are you doing on a CRYPTO coin site ? (if you don't know the first thing about Cryptography)

Anyway i am stumped OP i have no clue what you guys were talking about previously before this topic either.

I did write some code in C and shared it here though for a protection system (i used it to lock beta versions of miners i made)
in order to join the beta people had to put a key into the program to unlock beta features.
(the miner was for Quark / SecureCoin)

I used a caeser cypher with SHA-256 encryption (the same algo used by Bitcoin)

FUD first & ask questions later™

Its fascinating how many people on this forum (assuming programmers analytics economics etc.. ) dont pay attention or simply dont respond to some math teasers. Are they ignoring this offtopic subforum?

Nope. Not a Caesar cipher.

Ready for another clue?: Caesar. Seriously, that's a legitimate clue.

You guys are going to be like WTF when you see how simple this now is given all the clues. Surely, the answer to the question in the OP is plain as day by now.

C is the third letter of the alphabet. Is the answer 3? It seems to fit in nicely with this apparently non-mathematical sequence.

I can't seem to gleam an answer from the linked thread and the only help Google gave was a link to about non-mathematical numerical sequences.

You are incorrect.

Don't forget to include reasoning when submitting your answer, of which the correct answer may or may not has been recently offered up. Also, please don't post your answer in the form of a question.

Okay, I guess this question was too tough, so here's the answer: 8.

Now, tell me why it's an 8.

7 3 6 2 3 4 2 6

My series is 2 2 2 3 2 2 4 2 3 8. Why is the last number an 8? That is the question. I've already supplied more than enough clues in this thread so that even a fifth grader could figure it out.

This is clearly a series that requires right brain thinking to solve but uses numbers to obscure it as a left brain math question.

It may appear to be simple task to solve if you already know the answer but, as you can see everybody is absolutely clueless dispute being given all sorts of clues.

Holy fuck! badgerkiller figured it out. Yes, I missed it last night because I was in a Cryptsy-cum-Leroy Fodor state-of-mind, but I'm much better now. That's my story and I'm stickin' to it. HAHAHA

Funny thing is I just Googled the series and saw that this thread was the only result where I silently said, "WTF!" Then it hit me 2-3 seconds later realizing you solved it. Bravo!

Can anybody else figure it out? Or do you fuckin' cunts question my suffering mind? <---Clue?
