To my understanding, Betcoin.ag does not have a linux client available for poker players. While there are the other two options: I do not own a tablet nor can I access the Web client without flash crashing. (No, I am not changing browsers. I attempted it with FF, Chrome, and IE. All failed to get me into the Web client.)

Without forking over several hundred dollars to ol Billy, what options do I have to play poker with BTC?

A stupid idea came by me recently and I thought that a VPS would be good. I assume I am wrong?

huskypower2015 excellent question and this could depend on which linux distribution that your are using.  We have many players that have been able to play using ubuntu and chrome, however some of these players have had issues on Firefox.

Many of the programmers who also use Linux have also confirmed success in testing the web version using ubuntu and chrome.  Please let us know if this works for you and we can help you with this anytime.

Which derivative are you using?
I'm using ubunto studio and browser works well, maybe you have to update the browser and the flash to make it work.

Is Ubuntu the best Linux distribution?  Which other distributions have had a good success rate?

I am using Linux Mint 17.2 Distro.

Even with an apt-get update && upgrade, nothing seems to work.

That is why I asked about Opera. It seems to work, but I still need to set it up.

One could; however, I have tried the windows client on my Mint box and Wine would not work. It is simply not compatible even with all the available drivers and any previous .NET installations.

Also, I do not have a bootable W7 for a VBox.

You could use VirtualBox and get official free Windows image from modern.ie. Can install Betcoin, SWC, HEM, etc there. Only need to reinstall everything every 90 days because thats a Windows trial.

I have tried WINE before and I thought its helping me but it didn't because I end up reinstalling a fresh Linux system.  Just so you know once you have wine and keep using windows with it, you can actually acquire virus. I thought it was impossible because i'm using Linux but it really can.

Anyway huskypower2015, the way to update firefox is to click Help in the menu and then About Firefox, it will scan automatically and update.

Again, I have used Wine and it did not work. Also, I cannot risk downloading any files for a VM on the off chance that a malicious file has been integrated onto the W7 partition. I would also like to say that I have the latest FF browser with the latest Flash file ,(which BTW, seems to not work for any site now. I hate flash.)

I asked about Opera. Has anyone, even a developer, had any problems with the Web client on Opera and can one multi-table on the Web client?

Thank you.

There is an article on github regarding this.Node.js does the job for all the Ubuntu users .Though little bit knowledge is needed to implement the so called "hot-fix".Basically you install node.js with npm and node-gyp.You have to also install express.js.Once you've downloaded you're native dependencies you got to add them into your ev-path varibles.Did the job for me Smiley

Okay, so...Opera works. I got onto the Web Client with ease! One problem, there are no punters nor are there any tables for Hold'em. The main site says there are 30 players and 11 active tables yet there are no tables on the client at all.

Anyone tell me what is going on?

What do you see if you right-click in the flash-client? I'm interested in the version string.

I see this - note how once I click on the 'tournament' tab everything freezes, and the last game it shows (1K CAGE) is incomplete - the blue background stops part way across:

I've tried using WINE. It loads up fine, and even lets me view the full list of tournaments. But as soon as I log in, a small window pops up with the title "Poker Client", its content never gets drawn, and everything from that point on is frozen:

or OP you can install virtualbox and have windows inside it for windows apps.

I would do that if I had a copy of Windows, but I don't.

I did eventually get it working using something called "MicroXP" in VirtualBox.

None of the browser bits work, like the bottom bit of the screenshot below, but the games seem to play alright.

I'm not sure why there are so many different OSS #13 events. I guess some of them are labelled wrong, but that's probably not the VM's fault.

If the game works then that's all that matters. I guess this is solved then, if you're on linux and want to play with a client which is not yet available for linux, just install virtual box and a windows os and you can download and play with it, plus it is safe as if in case the client has some bad stuff it won't get out of the virtual environment.

Thanks for testing it out, I almost forgot about it.
