Buy bitcoin that you can afford to lose
What exactly do you mean? Can you please explain your statement. I think what you mean is that we should invest what we can afford to lose and not more than that. But that has got nothing to do with the people believing in bitcoin. You got that right on your own and you dont need explanation anymore. In investing, it is always wise to consider that everything has their own risk so jumping all in is not good especially when you still need those money. As bitcoin might not make you rich in a day however it is a long term project and you might in need of those money that you cant afford |

There could be billions of bitcoin users but if they're all holding small amounts of bitcoin, the price would still be low. Similarly, there could be small number of bitcoin users but each individual or at least one of them is holding huge amount of bitcoins, then the price of bitcoin would be high. We don't have equal amounts of bitcoin so you can't just look at the price of bitcoin and say that the popularity has grown. It's possible that an old bitcoin user just wanted to buy even more bitcoins that's why the price has increased. |

This is most of the problem. You want other people to buy in so it will push the price up from where your purchase price was. But of those people buying in, they will also need more people to buy in in order for them to profit as well. Needing ever increasing buyers is a pyramid scheme. Nobody is interested in using bitcoin as a currency, they are only interested in the price of bitcoin going up so they can have more money than they had before. This is what is wrong with bitcoin. As long as people are only using it as a speculative investment vehicle, it will never be a good currency. Bitcoin's utility as a currency and its status as a speculative asset are at odds with each other, and they are mutually exclusive. |

Most people like OP that asks question like this knows or heard that bitcoin is a good investment but don't know if it really is so they try to confirm it by asking strangers online. You know it wouldn't turn out so well when the price has declined if you don't know what exactly you invested to. To everyone who wants to earn money from bitcoin trading/holding, you should study the whole thing first before you put money to bitcoins. Otherwise when the price of bitcoin has started to decrease, you'll end up blaming the others that said bitcoin was a good investment. |
