Hi All,

I'm new to the forum.  I have picked up a lot of useful information reading over the past few weeks and thank you all for sharing your knowledge.

I'm trying to contribute a full node to the network on my Windows 10 workstation, however I am almost at the end of my rope with the issue I keep having.  The problem occurs whether I use bitcoin-qt or bitcoind.  It starts downloading and indexing and progressively gets slower.  Usually by the time it gets to 1 year and 12 weeks it either gives a fatal error or just stays on 1 year and 12 weeks I assume forever since I end up shutting it down after many hours.

Here is the system information:

Dell Precision Workstation T3610
Intel Xeon CPU E5 3.7Ghz
104GB Installed RAM
Windows 10
Drive C:  Two 500GB SSD's operating as RAID 0
Drive J:   Two 1TB Velociraptor drives as RAID 0 connected to Megaraid SAS Card

EDIT: Forgot to mention I'm using Bitcoin Core 0.11.1

I have tried installations to Drive C and Drive J with same results.  Also have deleted the Bitcoin directory several times, except for wallet and configuration file.

The only high readings I see in Resource Monitor are disk queue length which will sometimes reach almost 4.0 and hard hits which can reach 400 at times.  Other than that I don't have a clue.  I don't see an option to upload a file (maybe because it's my first post?), so I am providing a Dropbox link to the complete debug.log file in case someone wants to take a look at it.  Big file.  This particular file was created after I deleted all data and then restarted the application.

https://www.dropbox.com/s/awynpnvpqvnr55f/debug.log?dl=0

EDIT: Here is the log after running the application again: https://www.dropbox.com/s/p838naj6gvdiinj/debug2.log?dl=0

Thanks in advance for any help you might provide.

Here is the problem
Code:
2015-11-12 00:33:57 IO error: J:\bitcoin\chainstate\114605.ldb: The process cannot access the file because it is being used by another process.

It appears that something is trying to access one of the database files while Bitcoin Core wants to also. Usually that kind of program is some sort of antivirus. If you have an antivirus on your computer, you should set it to ignore and not scan the Bitcoin data directory, or disable it completely. If you don't have an antivirus, it could be Windows 10 is doing something. I have heard that Windows 10 has some privacy issues and they may be scanning things on your computer, one of which could be the Bitcoin data files.

Also, no one can post files on this forum. Instead, if you have text, you should just copy and paste it all into code brackets. Or you can do what you did if you do need to share files, but having download links is not recommended because sometimes people will post malware as something that seems innocuous, so people have become paranoid.

Hi knightdk

Thanks for taking the time to check it out.  Both times I ran it to generate the logs I turned off webroot antivirus and malwarebytes.  However, I just found Windows Defender on, so am giving it another run to see if it works.

Ok, I'm past the point of no return. Smiley

It would never get past 1 year and 12 weeks.  It is now at exactly 1 year and appears to be running very smoothly. It appears that Windows Defender was the issue here.  I'm going to mark this thread as solved!  Thanks again for pointing me in the right direction on this one!
