So what's going to happen when we have 21 million coins, will you all unplug your solo miners or will you keep them going to keep things spread around and decentralized.

I mine on a pool still. I get about $1 a day Smiley

Unlike traditional banking where clients have only a few account numbers, with Bitcoin people can create an unlimited number of accounts (addresses). This can be used to easily track payments, and it improves anonymity.

As stated in the topic title, currently 3 S3s and 1U3 are going at it! I have decided to solo mine for the next two years and see what comes up, I might add to the set up later.
I will be sure to update when a block is found! I am wondering though... Is it best I keep them all pointed to CKs solo pool, or maybe point one of them to nicehash.com (as the pool will give different work to the miner so part of my hashrate is working on different 'work' although its then less hashrate going towards the CK work) Currently they are all pointed to solo CK pool and have nicehash solo pool as the failover. I put CKs as the primary as I seem to know I can trust it given the high level of support and the fact its paid out every time a valid block is found and confirmed as part of the main chain. When a block is found I will ping a small donation to CK in that event. It is invaluable as mining on your local client maybe with a questionable upload I don't think is the best move! Wish me luck!

Heres to a block find!

This is my Uncle's S1:

EDIT: changed wallet address as I exported the private key from the old one to get my funds into another wallet as I couldn't wait the several hours to resync. As I had uploaded the private key somewhere I felt it safer to generate a new receiver address : )
EDIT II: My uncles S1 link has been added now its running!

you manged to find any blocks yet

Hows it going ... still mining. Or did you give it away. :-)
How do you know if you strike it lucky?

Wow, you are pretty mad to solo mine with just that set. even it finds a block every 77 months it won't be profitable at all, or it will only be profitable if the bitcoin prices goes up to the double.

How did you calculate approxx block finding period?

There are plenty of online calculators that provide you with this information.  If you'd like to calculate it yourself, a good formula to use is:

Code:
Current Diff * 2^32 / hash rate / 86400 = time to solve a block in days

So, if we use an Antminer S7 as an example (4.75T):

Code:
194254820283.44 * 2^32 / 4750000000000 / 86400 = 2032.94

Yup, the S7 expects to take just over five and a half years to find a block at the current difficulty.

And the s7 uses a boatload of power compared to my S3 with my KNC Titan and eth setup I don't have much circuit room for more, as I still want to put the kettle and cooker on now and then Cheesy. Come on my beauty! One hash out of 500 or so billion it puts out.

Kettle and cooker?  Order out!  Use those circuits for mining! Tongue
