How to stay away from gambling? suggestions ?

Sometimes experts can't help you and you have to help yourself, there is no other way to do it but to do it yourself, otherwise you never make a real change. You cant depend from external input, it has to come from within to make a real permanent change.

The desire should first come from the addicted person. Without it, no one can force change. But if the person really desire to get away from gambling, friends, family and professionals can make a big difference if they help that person. It is hard to change if you just do it yourself, but with help of people around you, it will be a lot easier.

Yeah, it's the main thing in this case is the desire of the addict to get out of gambling, if it already exists then we should examine it if they really want to get out of gambling (addiction). then if that happens then we will be very easy to do something to get out of gambling. After that we should be able to forget all the things about gambling

The thing is an addict person has only one desire which the desire to gamble, it is very bad for him if he cannot get any help from his close friends or his family to help him change and quit gambling completely because I see that is the only way he can completely quit gambling for good.

Very sad for him if that happened to him, but this discussion is not only for a specific person as I know majority of the gamblers here does want to stop already but they cannot do it because they are already addicted with gambling and they think if they will stop they would not take back their loses.

Once you realized that gambling is not worth to loose money and let other things for it , you have half success towards staying away from it. It is key to do or let anything internal desires and feeling which convince you to take further steps. Human nature is designed to adjusted with anything where you desires and mind drive you. You can just have some start first step is important .

Yup, this is the simple and perfect answer. Stop playing and don't see gambling site anymore. But this is not easy for real gamblers. They don't have control over their emotions. So I think they can take help from family members and also they need some prescriptions from doctors. And more importantly they have to control on their minds otherwise staying out from gambling is not easy.

Absolutely he can easily say and do that one because i think he isn't a gambler who gets addicted to it. But if he can experience also what op experience i think he will also surely ask for any advice  on how to stop

If a gambler is addicted, it is not easy to say no to things that he is addicted to, just like those drug addicts, its hard for them to turn away from their vice, sometimes they go to a rehabilitation center to be cured, same as in gambling, if you are addicted to it, rehabilitation would be needed or if you want to do it your self, you would need a good research and the support of your family.

It will be harder to quit if you will just do it yourself. There are so many temptations that can pull you back to gambling. But if you are inside a rehab center, you do not have access to gambling sites. Then it will be easier to quit because you will be forced to others things and your luck of access to gambling will really help a lot to find new hobbies.

Having an external help is the best way to have yourself be cured of 'addiction' of any sort.
Rehab centers are best for these, which is why they exist. I know some people are pretty embarassed for having themselves in a rehab center. That steriotype is something that should be changed since people in the rehab centers are people who are willing to change for the better.

Greediness is really hard to stop especially when you are  in the middle of the game and you are already experiencing  losing streaks  then the feeling of greed  would come out  and make  you bet even more  hoping  that you would win back your loses but   the sad thing is you even lose more. Some have strong  discipline  with there selves like yours, they  would easily realize that they are losing soo much   and with that they  decide to stop to  minimize  the loses.

We are just greedy because we aim for money in gambling and if you would take notice, most of the gamblers are coming from the poor status or average as they are more desperate to earn money and they have tried the most dangerous way which is gambling, so once they will they will still gamble until the end.

I'm amazed that you have patiently estimated how many post are similar, so you have the guts to read all the comments from page 1 to page 183. That is the problem when the one who posted this thread did not lock or delete it. However there is still a possibility that the issue is not solve. And most members don't back read a lot that's why they keep coming up with the same suggestions.

I think there is no people that cant control their greediness but they jusy dont want to try to control it because they still believing they will win it in the next few run but in the end they are just losing it though. You can do so many things to control your greediness though, by doing some sports or may be hanging out with friends, by stay away from it you will slowly control your greediness and in the ens you might stay away from it completely

These kind of threads simply can be use for a good advice by some other that are still addicted with gambling and at one point can be use by users that are just spamming their post for posts count or for signature campaign purpose only, we should not let any kind of users to just keep on posting shitty post rather giving advice for other users so they can suppress the urge with their addiction on gambling.

Seeking help from your love ones can always help you along the way cause the struggle from addiction is really hard and needs proper love and care and a lot of financial issues ahead so I think they need to stock up some because getting to a psychiatrist is very much expensive and it is not really easy being addicted so I think staying away from it is the best part you can always do.

If you can still think about those things while you are gambling, you can still get out of it...You just have to follow what you know is right thing to be done, usually you can't get out of gambling if you are always thinking that you can't and you feel like you would regret if you quit.

Well sometimes the level of addiction can not control by the gambler but there are certain gamblers that can go out from it without a problem and I think you are one of the lucky people that goes out without a problem or regain your self from addiction, certainly addiction can cause a people to take it on their head and will tattooed it on their mind that is a kind of causes for people who are addicted to various things but in some cases their will always be a person that will no hard problem in dealing with their addiction for example drugs I have know a certain someone that taking drugs in his old past life but never been addicted in the present!
