Satoshi Nakamoto Not Eligible for Nobel Prize   Although UCLA Professor Bhagwan Chowdhry chose to nominate the pseudonymous creator of Bitcoin, Satoshi Nakamoto, for the Nobel Prize for Economic Sciences, it appears the The Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences will not consider the nomination unless the legendary Nakamoto were to reveal his identity.

The grue lurks in the darkest places of the earth. Its favorite diet is adventurers, but its insatiable appetite is tempered by its fear of light. No grue has ever been seen by the light of day, and few have survived its fearsome jaws to tell the tale.

It was a trick to get him to expose himself, and it would have worked on most narcissists.

Who gives a fuck about the nobel prize anyway? When you see the kind of people who win them why bother? Considering how rich Satoshi must be ( I bet he must have bought Bitcoin back when it was barely a dollar ) any monetary benefits are pointless and he'd only gain a lot of unwanted attention if he revealed himself.

It's true the Nobel is not as relevant as it once was. The whole thing is just guilt money anyways. It was started by the inventor of dynamite to make up for all the death and destruction he caused.

I only really follow the Nobel for literature... Can't say I've agreed with any of their choices for years now

"Satoshi Nakamoto Not Eligible for Nobel Prize"

That says it right there. What Satoshi Nakamoto has contributed to society is too good and significant to be given the most meaningless award there is. It would almost be an insult if he won. What a joke the Nobel Prize has become.

I think Satoshi Nakamoto don't give a f*ck about this Novelty Award for him to be exposed his true identity just for a nomination. Btw, Satoshi can't be nominated if he doesn't show himself to the public.

Nobel prize nowadays lost its previous value whether they accept Satoshi or not, it doesn't really matter.
The us president won it (for peace  Lips sealed), i almost forgot this until I saw it on a post here.. And personally I think he really really deserves it  Cry

Satoshi won a bigger prize imo when every bitcoiner thanks him for this awesome technology [dot]

I agree with your point about Nobel and "guilt money", but in my mind that legitimizes the original prizes because he really was thinking about his legacy. Of course, he has no posthumous control over what today's Nobel committees might actually do.

More interestingly, I think, people generally do not seem to realize that there was no Nobel prize for Economics, meaning Nobel did not specify one in his will (1895). Rather, it was invented by a Swedish bank(!) in 1968 as a way to publicize what they feel are important memes.

Media tend to ignore this rather amazing difference, so in the public mind the prize in Economics has become legitimate, with all the gravitas of the real thing. Quite a propaganda coup for the banking sector!

Edit update: An example just appeared, but it is only one of many if you dig a bit - https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1253790.0

I like your idea. We could gather Bitcoins and set up a independent committee to found an own price similar to the alternative noble price.

Maybe somebody could establish the Nakamoto Prize for Computer Science? Who would be/appoint the committee is another question....

It now remains one small thing - to find this person  Grin Because if he was hiding all this time why he suddenly needs to step out of the shadows? Or is this a cunning plan to lure him out of the asylum? Grin
