for me gambling is not addicting at all, i usually dont like to play it as i nearly every time lose everything i have, it would be nice if people could fight this addiction but they are too greedy in my opinion

Greed is the main reason yes. They want more and more. Having money means the world to them. A normal job pays too less, so they try it with gambling. |

It's because of the nature of gambling. You loose a lot and win a tiny amount. When you see small victories you think you have achieved something and that gets you excited and you start to gamble more.

It is not greed - more like a stupidity in most cases. If you are educated enough you know that there are no rich gamblers. People who bet high stakes in a casinos are not people who became rich by winning their money by throwing Dice or playing Black Jack. They are rich businessmen, entrepreneurs and CEOs bored and wasting their money on gambling. |

I have witnessed first hand what made several friends become addicted. It also got me very close to becoming addicted and i believe it is the number one contributor to becoming addicted other than; an addictive personality. It is when you get real big wins from a relativity small starting amount. You will always remember how easy it was to win that amount, totally forgetting how easy it is to lose as well.

I would argue that those are outcomes of gambling addiction, and not necessarily a cause of gambling addiction. It is entriely possible that are a major factor, but its interesting to see some of how addictions are treated. I'm not sure if you've seen the "In a Nutshell" video on addiction https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ao8L-0nSYzg, but it is possible that gambling addiction can be influenced by a number of different factors. |

Gambling addiction is usually one of two things. Either the knowledge that you've won before, and can win again, with the same ease, or the "need" to recoup your losses.
Either way though, that's a horrible mindset to be stuck in.

IMO, gambling addiction causes either by your greediness or like you said, to recoup your losses. But I gamble because I am addicted with their "entertainment".  |
