As we have iTunes/Beat-port where we usually purchase music I was thinking to start a bitcoin accepting music store where all the music could be purchased using cryptocurrencies. The.The structure of the store will be same as Itunes or beat-port but you'll have your wallet linked with the music store which could be used to buy music.Any sort of ideas/suggestions appreciated !

I like the idea, But don't you need like a license to the record label to sell their music?

I think this is a fantastic idea but i fear you will not be able to get anywhere with it due to licensing and so on.

I would love for this to happen and fully support you ... You could make this for the bitcoin community so anyone whose singer among us, would make a contract with you and you be the publisher and seller on your website ... I will certainly unleash my voice talent when it's launched

I would start with local or small bands that have any decent following 100+ and offer them higher %'s than itunes and so on for music bought through your store. Not only would it promote their band to a new demographic it would also give you a chance to make some decent profits if a certain group does happen to end up doing well.

I think this is a great idea, if you want to put the time into it. First you need to contact the record labels and explain to them what you are building. Work out a good arrangement with them, but only plan on profiting about 10%-15% on your sales at first, for you need to offer a great discount in order to be able to pull in the customers. Next, do not try to get the newest music titles, unless you want to pay big, 2%-5% profit. This is a tough business, but if done right, there is potential.

very good idea and what suggestion you can is very good , first try with your local bands and promote them like this you will create bitcoin awareness through them , because music industry is very big if we start this it will boost the promotion of bitcoin community. like this you can also give opportunity to the new music band which wanted to show their talent.

Is your idea becoming a retailer or do you want to sell the stuff legitimate by buying the rights of the music and sell it? There is a huge difference in both things. The first is quite easy, the second needs a big initial investment.

Like stated before, your major problem will be licensing. To bypass it, here's my solution : I think you shouldn't try to have your own music selling site. What would be better would be to resell iTunes music. Let's explain myself : I think it would be better if customers could pay you with bitcoins and then you'll buy their music in iTunes with fiat money, and then you would send them, but it's not really professional . If you don't like this idea, you could still sell indie music, since those artists will let you sell their music with a simple text contract.

There are plenty of sites where artist can sell their music etc. Perhaps you can team up with with one of the altcoins that focus on music; audiocoin, songcoin etc. They have a userbase already and your website will getunique content from them.

you will have to undergo a very long process of meeting legal requirements but it is a very good idea. By that people will be able to use their bitcoins and also the musicians will be more than happy to give you the deal. take it to the next level

That is actually a great idea, everyone loves music The only problem i can see from this is that you might have is you need to battle with the music license to have an agreement to put the music inside the store Which is not an easy job to do, they are kinda hard to bargain with But, if you did make the music store i will definitely try it

Great idea, and I'd totally support it, though I think as people mentioned here you'd have trouble with the licenses. How about really small, local bands that aren't on labels or are on small labels?
If you could find me Bouffant Jellyfish's Little Red Riboflavin, I'd pay $3 in bitcoin just for that one song. It's from the 90's and is so hard to find.
Good luck with the project if you decide to launch something.

Thanks, this is a good concept. Not to take anything away from your idea perhaps following on from Pabs thought's that Songcoin would be a good fit for your business. I could back up some Beta testing with a body of coins to get you started rather than worry about throwing expensive Bitcoins around. Let me know if you're interested. Cheers DP - Songcoin Dev

Already in talks with few artists and record labels .Have spoke to most of them and they seem to be quite interested .They said however we want strict security against illegal downloads and privacy .Some of them even accepted bitcoins as method as payments for their artists !

I think that the orientation of only one kind of payment for musical composition is not the best option. Also it all depends what kind of musicians you can agree on cooperation because many of the services on this lost and ruined.

Try to go with a broad orientation of genres. Diversify your content with more and unique artists.
