the server kit from finksy that let me boost to 12.55 volts give me 7700gh for 2    I am happy with that.

can you share how you've "boosted" to 12.55v with finksy kits? We have about a dozen of them, all running smoothly around 11.9-12v... wouldn't mind getting a little more out of our avalons.  Maybe I missed something here.  thanks Smiley

it is the new 4000 watt board kit.

my review.

by far the best item they have made.  it is pretty quiet compared to most any server psu.

Unfortunately its' not ready for sale yet.  Phillip just got lucky with early prototypes.  Rumor is that it will be available late Jan / Early Feb.  I'm in line for them as well since I have the older breakout boards that does not have the Voltage tuning ability.  Definitely want better closer to 4TH powers since mine is barely doing 3.3TH with 12V.

There are other ones out there that just are not quite as polished/nice as it. One great thing is Avalon 6 = 4 PCIe cables. So just opens the door to so many PSU's.

S7 you get into the 10 PCIe there just is not a lot out there compared to 4 PCIe PSU's.

Yeah, Kilo17 just did a review on how he modified the HP 1200W PSU to change the voltage to 12.55 to get the higher hash rate.  I'm still confused how he's able to pull it off, so amazingly since the PSU is only rated for up to 900W on 110V.  He's definitely pulling more than 1200W just changing the voltage alone.  Pretty awesome...

Yes, I love the cabling in the back and only 4PCI, makes the setup so much cleaner and only 1 controller / 1 network cable.

It is one thing I see as a big pro myself.  Just opens a lot more doors, and PSU's that I have already.  I don't have any extra 10 PCIe PSU's if I need them I have to order new.

If it's a 4 PCIe PSU there is a chance I might have one I have already ROI'ed on which is nice to use.  (As of right now all are being used, but at points I have had PSU's already ROI'ed and it's very nice to use again).

four cables means stud pcie cables are a must.  I am using the 3 foot 15 gauge pcie cables made custom by finksy/j4bbrwocky.

they are cool and do not over heat.

Hi Phillip, should I even bother connecting the Avalon 6 to the IBM 2K PSU?  If I don't change the voltage, I won't see any hashing difference right?  Only have the S7 on the IBM 2K PSU right now.

I'm not sure on Finsky kits.  But on a lot of PSU's that allow it there is a adjustment that makes it very easy.  For example on Kilo 17 has a thread on it for one on Avalon 6: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1294058.0

Yeah, Kilo hit me up on his thread.  I'm still in awe what he was able to achieved, not just the hash rate but the fact that he was able to OC a the Avalon 6 on a 1200W PSU that is rated to max at 900W when used on  110V.  The 1200W is only for 220V connections.  He's going to send some info to me on how to change the Voltage on my Dell too.  That really changed my thought on either buying another EVGA G2 used on Ebay for $100 or a HP 1200W PSU with breakout boards.  I'm going to be maxing out my single 30AMP connection on the next order so I need to leverage the existing 110V connections until I have the budget to go 200AMP.  You guys are the PIONEER of Creativity.  I'm really amazed at what you guys are able to find out, do and achieved.  Very happy I found this thread and forum.

P.S On a side note, does anyone know how new members can post pictures yet?  I've try Imgur, photobucket, etc but all the same results.  It's definitely much easier and a picture speak a thousand words rather than links that people may overlook.

No new members can not post pictures.  I doubt they ever are able to again it was limited on purpose.  If you have something you want to share in thread I would be happy to quote it so it shows up in it.

That is best work around for new members to ask other higher rank to quote and it shows up assuming on site that works here, photobucket is one I use heavily.

Since this thread is slowing down a bit.  I figure I would show this "TEASER" of 7TH+ from my single Avalon.  Now you guys don't have the fastest OC Avalon anymore!  hahaha

Quoted so image shows above.

I would not count it though 10 seconds is not enough time to stabilize Smiley.  You can get really high/low at start of most miners, you have to let it stabilize before it really counts.

Haha, you're too smart Notlist3d.  Was hoping you let it slide and see if others caught it.   Hence the teaser part and a bit toward my thinking on how that guy E thinks he's able to get 5.1TH on his S7 using the same 2K IBM PSU that I have without any voltage changes.  I just didn't want to rub him the wrong way and post this in that thread.  Hahaha.........

I own two Avalon 6.I want to overclock them, what do you recommend? I bought a server mofidified psu from Ukraine. It has 3*16 AWG cables.I assume I can use them 2*16 AWG to power instead of 4 individual powers? Is it correct?

No, you need 4 PCIe cables.  If the PSU is >1000w then you could splice or solder another one on but need 4

Don't have an Avalon 6 but may help your $$ savings on elec power below (esp if Midwest USA under Xcel Energy...probably applies to other elec utils call them)

Knocked my elec rate from 13.7c kwh to 9.27c kwh (this is all fees/taxes local etc..the 2500 kwh used divided into ACTUAL full monthly bill)

Seems if you are using your 'server equip' for home heating (look at the utils point of view at 225 usd more per month the last year what else could you be doing with it?) You must be using it for your primary source of heating ..ie electric..thus the FURTHER reduced winter rate (on back of Xcel bill you can look)

IF your primary mode of heat in winter is Electric Heat (which you can change back/forth with a phone call to them) instead of the 'for everybody' drop to 12.3c kwh

it will go all the way down to 9.27c kwh in my case.

here is the link and story on how I kinda walked into this

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1296558.msg13304401#msg13304401

post on the thread how successful you are and with which elec utility (hopefully more then Xcel Energy) and good luck

Again in my case (mild winter) majority of heat is from elec (run the the miners first thou..space heaters they act like) ....my 3 bedroom house is well insulated ...so the
miners make up the first 62F (68F basement and 64F 2nd floor) with only Gas Furnace kicking in. I offered to take an 'inspection' (worse that could happen they come by and
have a good laugh and say 'no way' and I have the old rates) ...they never did ..just saw the 225 more in elec this year and rubber stamped it.

That is 115 buck savings a month to me for 5 months in winter on top of the $45 bucks a month in year round gas budget for heat (some of this is the mild winter) BUT
at least for this winter it is a 160 buck a month savings for me

so trying to get the word out to big asic users like this Avalon 6 thread , knc thread, GPU miners etc if you are in Winter mode...esp Midwest USA in Winter... look into this

Again how I fell into this and what to watch for *do this after hours with REGULAR customer service rep ..they 'obviously' have the power to do this or at least

tag it as such ...for the 'rubber stamp' as ok as was my case

(damn I could afford an Avalon 6 now ..and prob would ROI with above..but I think I may have missed the ROI boat with knc's btc and others big data farms gonna hit

anyway ...hope this also helps your bottom line...as per the Avalon thread here title 'winter mining' as it is Smiley

good luck

Glad to hear you success Searing! I truly believe Winter mining and Summer mining are different beast's that's why on my gear reviews on all new one's i've been putting it in the title.

Summer I had to use a lot of CFM's.  But with winter I can slow down fan's quite a bit and the free cool air helps out and reduces overall costs.  So winter is easier season to mine in.

Can anyone tell the exact model(s) of USB-I2C adapter which can be used to connect Avalon6s to RasPi? Is there any specific requirements for this adaptor? Where can I buy it?

Well I got to believe that someone else (at least in Midwest USA under Xcel Energy ..it is multi-state) could not also get the same deal. Worth a shot. Worse that could happen is you KEEP YOU OLD RATE lol Smiley I bet the same program exists under many Midwest Utils in the Winter..anyway ..so I'd guess...so ask around look about is my view

I just find it 'hilarious' at these prices...I could put up the OLD KNC 550 GH Jupiter BTC miner again and ONLY lose $5 elec a month vs current BTC price Smiley

Alas....no PSU ..being used on the Titan Scrypt Miners

my setup below ..i point this out ..on this Avalon 6 thread to point out the workbench...butcher block frigging workbench ...at Sam's club 209 only (was 180 bucks expect price to drop after holidays....it was like only 70 bucks more then a regular wood workbench kit..with the heavy duty wood top and all metal legs etc was a good deal imho.

The Shelves below on the workbench are from closet rack kits and drilled using toggle bolts...got a tap an die kit to mount the stuff on the rear.....was easy peazy Smiley Also you look around pics below you can see the shutter fan for summer and other fan other end of the basement to push air in...just have like a 10mph wind at the ceiling....in the summer..seemed to work well Smiley

lostgonzo.imgur.com

http://www.samsclub.com/sams/ultra-heavy-duty-workbench/prod1490086.ip

also running an Avalon 6 I'd run it at 220v with these puppies....saved my Titans in storms 3x now...(1x scrambled the SD cards..but all else OK). i did overkill with 1 per PSU (1200i corsair's) here is the link..for heavy duty asic's I can't recommend these enough. They come with the euro plug that works at 220v from the PSU standard end plug to the 4 port surge protector...from the surge protector to the wall you need to buy a separate cord to the proper type 220v outlet you have at the wall..but again these really, really have saved my butt at least 3x that I know of!

http://www.amazon.com/Tripp-Lite-International-Protector-EURO-4/dp/B00006HZ4M/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1451023672&sr=8-1&keywords=tripp+lite+euro

Anyway just a note for your Avalon 6 miners..should work fine the above...myself.....on a 100 amp service 2500 watts of Titan(s) is plenty! Smiley

And again call your local electric utility and see if they have special rates in winter for home heating by electric heat as your primary source plan (back of bill on Xcel Energy and probably others) not really advertised..you could get lucky ..for me it was like 115 buck savings a month for 5 months(?).. for winter Smiley

Anyway large ASIC cross equipment (I have knc titans) stuff that works for your Avalon 6's as well...frigging energy beasts that they all are!

Good Luck Smiley

Someone share if they have a 3rd party source.  But I think best chance is official channels, EHash has it - https://ehash.com/product/avalon-usb-converter/ .  But it shows sold out.

If your needing one I suggest emailing BlockC or Ehash depending on location.  But I would think they would sell you one.
