Does anyone have the details on how to reduce the power how to connect up in putty. Am looking to get maybe some s1 units back up and running with reduced power. Anyone know a good ratio without effecting much of the has rate produced but taking some of the power use down so under clocking to a good ratio of power in use on them?

I was reading up on this https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=526060.0 but pencil mods I don't like fucking around with. I just want to be able to reduce some watts and take a little off the power used and reduce maybe some MH but to a good ratio.

If your any good at soldering little resistors you can just parrallel in some at the pencil mod location to get the desired affect in a reliable fashion. Once the resistance is modded it is just a matter of changing the freq via ssh

Pencil Mod although fiddely is quite safe to do. You are just reducing the value of a resistor which in turn reduces the Core Voltage on the ASIC's. If you were to overdo it the worst that happens is that the voltage reduces too much and you will get HW errors. Then out with the eraser and you are back where you started.  Smiley

You do however need a multimeter to check the value of resistance you have created and then optionally the Core Voltage. To get improved efficiency the resistors have to be changed as just reducing the frequency will reduce the power consumption & hash rate, however efficiency remains the same.

Yes it`s easy to do and pretty safe. I remeber I did it couple of month ago too Smiley. I am not aware of any other way how to decrease a Power consumption.

Have everything that is needed. All need now is some time over the weekend to give it a go and see where I end up. If I can reduce the amount of power used and drop maybe 40GH off units to get 505 drop in use will be well worth the while but still only a little amount of has wonder if will be worth it to have 600GH or close to running now days. Might just take up on some alt sha coins see where it leads.
