is this how steven will look in his old age?

I think this is how I looked yesterday after about 20+ hours straight of C coding to get an enhancement into the wallet prior to the time of the big bang.

Haha, I can imagine... sounds like exciting stuff - I wonder what the secret is.... I wonder if we'll find out over the weekend =)

i wonder if steven will ever get any sleep so he can ENJOY the fruits of his labour Tongue ...

#crysx

20hrs is a very long time to work, I usually get a scrambled head after about 4 hours of programming - try not to burn yourself out Steven!

It is a common myth that Bitcoin is ruled by a majority of miners. This is not true. Bitcoin miners "vote" on the ordering of transactions, but that's all they do. They can't vote to change the network rules.

i do on average about 16hours a day - so i know how he feels ...

but steven pushes the envelope even more than i - which means even less rest ...

i dunno how he keeps up - though i think he will have a collapse moment soon after this weekend when he actually sleeps - hehehe ...

chatting to him now on skype though - doesnt sound like he will be resting any time soon ...

Thanks for the concern, gents! ... I will make more coffee.  Wink

Speaking of 20 hours, under 20 hours until....

All the pieces are ready. Just ironing out one cosmetic blemish on the Qt wallets before the final builds are built. Alerts have been raised everywhere. All hands are on-deck. Absolutely no reason this will not be successful. Thank you, all!

I might even get a few hours sleep. 8 perhaps, if I could contain my excitement.

I don't get to code as much these days, I was promoted out of my dev role a few years ago, but still manage about 10% of my work day programming.

... the network upgrade will happen on Saturday, February 18th at 05:00 GMT. At that time all seednodes will be stopped and that block height will be the last block on the, what will become, old network protocol version (80000). When all seednodes are running properly on the new network protocol version (80015), EverGreenCoin Version 1.5 wallets will be released and the repo made public again. There will be a brief window of time while backups of the blockchain are made for historical purposes and the new v1.5 daemons are brought online. Ever effort will be made to make this window short and of course, I will be in communication during it.

What does this mean? You need to have stopped your EverGreenCoin wallet prior to Saturday, February 18th at 05:00 GMT and not run it again until after you have upgraded to version 1.5. At that time (Saturday, February 18th at 05:00 GMT, aka 'big bang' time) and going forward, all versions of EverGreenCoin wallets other than version 1.5 will not work. Your old executable file (v1.3 - v1.4.2) will be useless and should be deleted (DO NOT delete your wallet.dat file) after so you do not accidentally run it ever again. Upgrading will be simple, you will only need to run the new v1.5 executable that will be made available. If you do run your existing version (v1.3 - v1.4.2) past February 18th at 05:00 GMT, you will need to resync after you have upgraded. In any event, your EverGreenCoin are safe. As with any upgrade, it is advisable to make a backup of your wallet.dat file prior to upgrading, just to be safe. ...

Quoting the above just to reiterate. To summarise briefly, at 05:00 GMT: 1) Seednodes will be stopped. 2) Seednodes are started with v1.5. 3) v1.5 wallets and source code made public. 4) The EverGreenCoin blockchain continues with only v1.5 wallets.

Bittrex and C-Cex are on standby for the code to be made public. Cryptopia has told me the admins are aware. YoBit, to little surprise, has yet to respond. After 05:00 GMT, please do not send to or try to send from any wallet, exchange, or service provider that has not been confirmed on version 1.5. Announcements will be made when they are confirmed.

If at any time you have an issue, please do not hesitate to ask for assistance. If you stop your wallet prior to 05:00 GMT and do not run it again until after you have upgraded, you should have no issue but in the event you do, many people will be ready to assist. Again, you can upgrade to v1.5 at your convenience after it is released, but do stop your existing EverGreenCoin wallet prior to 05:00 GMT or you will need to resync after you upgrade.

EDIT: Thanks everyone. This should go as seamlessly as possible.

I've pulled 75% of my coins off yobit and cancelled 50% of my orders as a precaution. Better than losing it,but still want to keep a few on there speculatively.

Good to hear (since yobit is my primary source for buying new EGC via the sig campaign) - I don't have so many to lose, and have acquired much more EGC through trading than staking so I'm keeping about 50% of my stock on exchanges and 50% in staking for now.

With about 5 hours to go until the network upgrade and hardfork, I am pleased to announce EverGreenCoin v1.5 wallets are ready and everything will be going to plan.

EDIT: Compatibility issue with the MAC wallet. Working on rectifying it now.

Just under an hour to go. The only thing not in place at this time is the MAC wallet but it is actively being worked on.

It is best to stop your wallet within the hour, before 05:00 GMT. At that time, crysx and I will be tending to the seednodes. I will post links to the v1.5 wallets just as soon as the seednodes are ready to support them. This window of time should be brief, 5 to 10 minutes. I will update you if it runs longer than that for any reason.

Slight hold-up here as Crysx has seemed to have disappeared. Doing my best, please bear with me. Thank you in advance for your patience.

EDIT: MAC wallet is done. But no wallets can be released until the seednodes are ready.

EDIT 2: Still waiting and looking for Crysx. I was talking to him in skype an hour before. He told me he was building and went offline. Sorry for the continued delay.

EDIT 3: Please hang tight. I do want to bring the network back online in full strength.

hi mate ...

no deployment as yet - as i have had a great deal of things to take care of on a personal basis ...

as a few of you know - and those that dont - i have had to commit about 5days to a court trial that lasted two whole days ...

during this time - my silence was the only thing i could have to focus on the case ... these things in life are always a headache - and require not only time - but focus and complete commitment to the case at hand ...

ill be posting this on the cwi-thread in the coming days in a little more detail - but the crux of it all is pretty much that i had to fly out ( 2.5hours ) - and drive ( 5.5hours ) and settle in to focus on paperwork and the mess i had to deal with ... when court time arrived - i had to drive out ( 3.5hours ) to the courthouse and endure two days of what can only be described as painful experience - to say the very least ... those of you that have been through a trial - will understand ... those of you that havent - lets just say i would rather have teeth pulled without anesthetic than go through that again ...

after all completed - i flew back and settled in back home a couple of days ago - to have had yesterday for rest after the travelling and court ordeal ...

today ( saturday ) - i have been focusing on work and  getting a number of things sorted ... even though orders have been handed down by the judge a few days ago - she has reserved her actual final judgement for a week or so while she deliberates the facts and issues of the case ...

this leads us to where we are at currently ...

why am i telling you all this? ... well - im glad you asked Smiley ...

steven and i have been discussing ( and organizing ) the rollout of the code and seednode compilations and so forth ... within an hour into the work - MORE paperwork was emailed through to my partner - and she made a hardcopy of it all and threw the complete small volume under my nose ... steven didnt even know i was gone - as it had to be done before the day was completed ...

to cut a long story short ( er ) - here we are and the compilation of the seednodes are continuing to roll on ... steven is working on a few things his side - but is waiting until all the seednodes are finalized ... hence this delay ... as ALL of you know the way we work - we will not release something that is half done - whether it is my fault or not ... even though i can only apologize for my delay in getting things rolling - we are rolling ...

as it stands - we are on our way to completion on the cwi end ... it is late here where i reside - but as long as everything goes well - we should have the entire backend sorted shortly ...

steven will no doubt post here when its all ready - as we are in constant discussion on skype ...

please hold tight and we will get this finished asap ...

tanx ...

Thanks for all your hard work guys - Can't wait to try out the new wallet.

I wonder what the surprise was...

Staking for charity. Now, up to 100% of your staking rewards can be sent to any EverGreenCoin address automatically and after maturity (60 blocks).

I hope to use this to attract charitable organizations into the EverGreenCoin ecosystem. But that of course is not the functionality's only use. While working on it, I did think of you scenario specifically, starmman. Where you do not have direct access to your staking node. You could, for example, have your staking rewards sent to another wallet, exchange or elsewhere, where you might have more readily available access.

Please do be advised that if you do have 100% of your staking rewards sent to another address, you will actually be sending, or donating, more than 100% because you will be paying the transaction fee  (.0001 EGC) on top of the percentage.

I hope to in future releases have a list of charities, populated by calls to an EverGreenCoin server, for people to select a charity of their choice. In the meantime, I will get a portion of the EverGreenCoin website devoted to this purpose in the near future.

I hope users do enjoy the new wallet. Chicago and I worked very tirelessly on it. Please do upgrade at your earliest convenience. Thanks in advance for doing so and many thanks to those who already have.

Sounds awesome - I wonder if its time to approach the ecosia foundation again - it would be great to have the ability to plant tress whilst using a solar staker.

Good adoption rate so far. Great that 50% of people staking are actively following the coin to the extent that they will upgrade on the same day as wallet release =).
