Yes, we are aware. It will be addressed in a future release. You can go to the statistics tab and see your current block height.

EDIT: Or you can go to the debug window to see your current block height compared to estimated current block height.

Yes, there is. The only thing that is not there is the in-wallet block explorer. That was excluded because of the amount of memory it used. But all other functions, including staking and staking for charity, do work.
